I think Rousey cut corners, too. why work on conditioning for multiple rounds when noone takes you multiple rounds.... ? .... because eventually, someone WILL take you multiple rounds, and then conditioning becomes important. When you're tired, you get sloppy.... when you get sloppy, you get caught. Watching UFC, all the ultimate fighter shows, and coaching wrestling.... I have seen numerous times, where the superior fighter/grappler/wrestler has lost because of endurance. Holly pushed the pace.... and Rousey gassed and ended up eating a foot.
She will be back, one loss wont make her leave the MMA. My bet is she undertranined didn't respect her opponent.
agreed. Still one of the best. However.... WWE is possibly prepared to throw her large amounts of money to come over. In MMA, careers are shorter than in prowrestling. Look at Brock Lesnar... he can no longer compete in an octagon at 39, but he can "wrestle" and earn money for a few more years doing the predetermined stuff. Sure, it's still risky, health wise... but noone is trying to knock you out and rattle your brain bucket every time you "compete"
I never liked Rousey anyway. Her main claim to celebrity to me seemed to be that she looked rather hot to most men (not me) and was of course a fighter. Much like the hideously overrated Danica Patrick is a somewhat attractive woman with the novelty of being a race car driver. Being a celebrity is like a snake bite against continued competence in your field. Whether its fighting, driving, acting, singing, or judging by Neil Degrasse Tyson, being an astronomer
No doubt. She looked tired with quite a bit of time to go. She chased Holm around and Holly never made a mistake to allow Ronda inside well enough to take her down. Her takedown defense was awesome. I'm a Rousey fan, but she's got a lot to learn when faced with fighters of Holms' caliber. She's got to learn to fight on her feet because takedowns aren't always possible. And she needs to condition for tougher opponents. Even Meisha Tate took her for 3 rounds, but fortunately Ronda was able to gas Tate by taking it to the ground and forcing Meisha to try to fight her way back to her feet.
Yes she wanted to prove she can beat any one at their own game. Result total failure. Do what you do best. - - - Updated - - - She wasnt gassed she was stunned from eating so many punches
I called this years ago. RR is not top talent. She has a niche with her armbar tech but beyond that she wins by psyching people out. She was never even remotely close to HH in talent, and won't be, not for about another 5-6 years. RR is finished in the UFC.
all those women... even the good looking ones, look like crap when in the ring. Ronda is a very good looking woman when she's done up, and not in fight gear. There's a tired meme of her looking like sloth from Goonies, and it's accurate, but it's a fight picture. Holms is a very pretty lady, not in fight gear The girl I posted a page ago, is gorgeous, not in fight gear. The thing I think is confusing most is they are being compared to WWE divas, whose ring attire is chosen on looking sexy, whereas, the UFC women have to choose functionality over looks.
How can you under train for the hardest opponent you ever had in front of the biggest crowd. Once more she tried to box with many times over world boxing champion. That was her downfall . Not saying she would win using a different strategy but it could not have been more of a beating. It looked like a pro vs an armature
She's not banned for life. Santos has had 2 fights just this year in Las Vegas and California. I have no idea what you're talking about.
Im sure they are. She is also an actress and has appeared at Wrestlemania with the biggest actor in the WWE The Rock. Her name sake Rowdy Roddy Piper was also a wrestler and an actor. Most likely she will go his route and concentrate on movies and make appearances here and there in the WWE. Meanwhile Kurt Angle has joined Bellator and says there is a good chance he will fight there. Let us not forget
Watch Rocky III. Yeah it is fictional but it does do an excellent job of capturing the differences in training and attitude between an established champion just trying to fight one more time and a hungry competitor for whom the fight is life itself.
ton of talent, underestimating your opponent, a lazy work ethic, and taking short cuts. I have beaten much better athlete/wrestlers based on the fact I was in shape, and they were not. I weathered the storm in the first round.... pushed the pace in round 2, and would beat them in round 3. I have coached many wrestlers into victories over superior athletes that way. Sometimes, you have to outsmart your opponent to win. That's all part of it. Ronda is a world class, elite athlete, but her competition is on that same elite level, but even at that level, there are more superior oponents out there you have to get through and conditioning is one way to seperate.
I predicted this for the last two months. Prior to Holy, Ronda has been beating up accountants with two years MMA experience who only began training to "get in shape." Ronda is a great fighter who has beaten cans. Her ego and arroganc caught up to her. And the UFC deserves this for over-hyping Ronda. Calling her the "Michael Jordan of MMA" and the "One in a lifetime human." Ronda was feminist hype and she got KTFO by the Preacher's Daughter ! War Holm !
Banned from the UFC - - - Updated - - - One more time she was not gassed she was punch drunk. She stood up with her back to Holly when she ate that kick and barely made it to her feet. She didnt seem to even know where she was half the time.
people never think about the similarities between WWE athletes and UFC athletes are. Often, it's the same caliber athlete that either chooses to wrestle, or MMA.... Kurt Angle beat Mark Coleman in the Olympic Qualifying match to go to the 96 olympics.... Afterwards, Coleman helped pioneer UFC, and Angle went on to WWE success. I absolutely believe, had Angle went the UFC route.... he would have been in all the championship talks. And had Coleman went WWE, he would have had success there. Roulon garner (2000 Gold medalist in Roman Greco) also tried his hand in MMA....
Yes I wrestled well. But once more it wasnt her gas tank that let her down it was hits to the head and bad strategy.
she was not banned from UFC due to steroids... ie - Cael Sonnen failed, and was allowed back. Cyborg is banned from UFC to protect Rousey as she was the face of the division and very marketable, so long as she remained undefeated. We don't have to worry about that anymore. And she was gassed. She was hanging her hands, not moving her head.... straight lines... those are signs of tired
So? One more time, she didn't train to her opponents strengths. But hey, I see you are just dying to be right. So enjoy.
