gassed shows up in many ways....

shooting with your head down looks like bad form, but it's a sign of gassed. Punch drunk looks that way, too, as when someone gets rocked, they always dive for the legs and hold on trying to recoup.....

You don't know what you're talking about. She hasn't had a fight in the UFC because the UFC doesn't have a 145 lb womens division. Dana White referred to things "changing" because of Rondas loss and mentioned Cyborgs name as a possible matchup during the post fight press conference. Stop making crap up.

Many dont even consider WWE guys athletes. This is a huge mistake. I used to work for them and have met many of the wrestlers my favorite I spent time talking to was Stacey Keibler tumblr_mbham2BZ311qc6yqqo1_500.jpg God is she gorgeous . Anyway they are all members of the actors guild and the best stuntmen in the world.

It wouldn't matter how much she trained because she is years behind Holy in the striking dept. And Holy's TDD is second to none. She is like prime Machida in many ways; a lethal striker who is impossible to take down. Rashad Evans got a taste when he arrogantly dismissed Machida in his first title defense. The result was this -

If she was so good why not drop down. Why should Rousey have to move up ? I heard she was banned for life but it seems its for a year

and you said you wreslted? could you just drop to 103?.... drop 20 pounds just to wrestle? Even if you could, you would have been drained physcially. Even dropping 3# from 115 to 112, if I did it too quickly, I could tell a difference. Of course, I had 3% body fat and that's not the same as a heavyweight dropping 45 pounds in a month....

For Rousey and cyborg to fight, it needs to be at a catch weight.... of course, Rousey doesn't want to do that either, but it's not like they are asking her to go all the way up to Cyborg, either.

    - - - Updated - - -

And Rashaad Evans was an NCAA wrestling COACH as MSU. so it's not like he didn't have good takedowns....

This is correct. She usually wins by submission.. a standing punch-out will always do her in.

I think over-confidence is a big part of this too.

Kurt Angle himself said, in his book, in 96, Vince McMahon called him and Angle wouldn't take the call "because it was fake" He eventually wised up and realized, as "fake" as it is... the money was real.

And Stacy Kiebler was/is the most gorgeous woman on the earth in my opinion... I met her one time and in my vain attempt to talk with her in a hit on her kinda way, I completely choked. She smiled politely and walked away. lol

It was at the last episode of WCW in Panama City... We had backstage passes and met a bunch of them. (Chris Benoit was doosh then too, btw)

But as beautiful as Kiebler was on TV, it was nothing compared to how gorgeous she was in real life.

A few years later, I was in Orlando at Universal and some of the TNA wrestlers were at our hotel, including Taylor Wilde, the TNA women's champ at the time. Again, I tried to talk to her and see if I could buy her a drink (not talk to her like I was a wrestling fan). She shot me down so hard.... I turned around after it happened, and Jay Lethal (the Black Macho man) was laughing his ass off at me.... it was all pretty funny looking back.

Drop to 103? I wrestled 98 and I would not want to wrestle at a higher weight class . The next one up when I wrestled was 105. In the off season my walking around weight was 125 so even at that light a weight I dropped over 20lbs in fact almost a fifth of my weight and I was never fat. I could lose 3 or 4 lbs in a day just before a match.

Besides our guy at 105 was the State champ in 9th grade and every year there after giving me little incentive to move up. He was a true phenom

yikes... nm... that was as low as it went.

Either way, the piont is still valid... drop 2 or 3 weightclasses , and you not going to be able to wrestle competitively. I was 5'10, and 112# at my ABSOLUTE MINIMUM.... had I tried to cut to 103, I would have died. (I did see a kid who was 5'11, and 103 though.... SKINNNNNNYYYYYY!!!!)

I worked as a stagehand here on Long Island. Anytime the WWF/WWE hit the Nassau Coliseum I would work for them. I actually had lunch with her as we all eat together as Vince provides a great spread. I just happened to choose the seat next to her :)

Yes the wrestling is all planned but the blood and props are real and you better be in shape. My favorite wrestler was Chris Benoit. Talk about a bottomless gas tank. He probably would also have made a great MMA figher. Too bad he turned out to be such a loser.

Wow you were a tall guy for even 112. I was 5' 5 at 98 and skinny as a rail during the wrestling season though stockier than most as I have real short legs but a big upper torso

Well sir you're either full of it or you had lots of fat to lose, or you were cutting 10+ lbs of muscle. As a freshman with 5% body fat at 113 lbs I nearly had to kill myself to make 103, even with using a sauna and plastics. I've been around the sport for 25 years and I've never seen a 103 cut the kind of weight you're talking.

She was also panicking, which saps energy. After round one, she had a deer-in-the-headlights look to her going back to the corner.

Not really. I saw the fight in Vegas this weekend. Holm is 2 inches taller with longer reach and a much better boxer. Rousey was interviewed and asked what kind of fighter she was concerned about and it was essentially Holly Holm. She even said she was aware of Holm and her career for some time.

I was a mile long compared to everyone in my weightclass. I'm still 5'10 but I'm 200 now. and I STILL look skinny....

I was boney, every part of me hurt while wrestling me, and I was a legs rider during the 90s when leg riding wasn't as prominent as it is today.

I wrestled on other guy in 12th grade, that was my heitght and weight, and it sucked. He hurt. I won (barely) because I had one more move than he did I think, and the ref missed a very obvious fleeing the mat call on me.

The shortest guy I wrestled was 4'11, 112#. He was the State champ in weightlifting. He wasn't a midget, but he was so disproportionate for me, I couldn't wrestle him. And he was STROONNNG.

My coach always said "noone's arms are stronger than your legs" (referring to sprawl out before they lock around the leg) I think I found the exception to that rule.... his arms were bigger than my legs....

I agree.... I was in that same position you were... very little bf and would kill myself to get 112. If I did it wrong, or too quickly, I was not ready to wrestle a quality opponent.

I've now been involved in the sport for about 15 years as a coach or ref.... unless this kid was just a short butterball, cutting that much at such a low weight is hard to imagine. I won't ever say NEVER of his description... because I suppose anything is possible... but I've never seen it.

Well I didnt think I was fat :) I was like everyone else when not wrestling. I would start losing weight months before the start of the wrestling season. By the time the season started I would be around 105 or less and need to lose two or three pounds within the week of a match. The lower you go the harder it is to lose weight. The first 10 or 15 isnt that hard. I can remember putting on a rubber suit and laying on top of the heaters and making myself puke in order to make weight one time when I was still like a pound over with only hours before weight in. Again I never saw a guy your size at 105 never mind 103. We didnt have saunas back then. We would simply put on those rubber suits and work out. I did wrestle105 once in JV when our 105 guy failed to make weight as did the other teams 98 guy so we put in the 2nd string 98 lber. Needless to say I lost as I was still 98lbs but I at least didnt get pinned.

Again maybe I was a bit fatter than I thought :) Heck in 8th grade I was 4'8 and 75lbs. Then suddenly the summer after 9th grade I sprouted to 5'5 and 125. Normal weight for a guy 5'5 is 114 to 149 so It seems to me I was in the ball park. And yes If I had to lose weight just before a match it would seriously weaken me. I tried to stay at 98 or real close all season

Of course not, that kind of weight for someone that small is where you'll get into medical issues and you're just cutting muscle. That 10 lb cut would get me to the point where I could barely muster enough saliva to spit at that weight. I once weighed in a pound over and it took a hour of riding a stationary bike with plastics and sweats on to cut that final pound and I felt like I was going to die.

If I had to lose 10lbs a week before a match I wouldnt make it and If I did I sure would not win. Like i said i once had to lose a pound the day of a match and my stamina in that match was crap and i lost.
