I've noticed that when gun owners get up to 3-4 guns in their gun collection they seem to have more guns then brains.

Like you state....the most murders are in highly populated areas. One real bad city can make a whole state look bad on paper, or if a state has multiple urban areas compared to states with only one, this can skew the stats as well.

But when you break it down to an accurate description of the likelihood of violent death, the larger cities are where this is more likely to happen. To get an accurate picture of the stats, you have to break it down to cities. BTW..... this is murder rates, not GUN murder rates.

    Murder rate per 100,000 people:

    St. Louis, Missouri 49.91
    Detroit, Michigan 43.52
    New Orleans, Louisiana 38.75
    Baltimore, Maryland 33.84
    Newark, New Jersey 33.32
    Buffalo, New York 23.22
    Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania 22.43
    Memphis, Tennessee 21.38
    Atlanta, Georgia 20.47
    Cincinati, Ohio 20.16

I'd say the north is the winner.

    Would you?

I think that your stats fail to properly assess the mentality that appears prevalent in the south, as demonstrated by the morons in the OP letting an argument over $25 end in shooting.

Now $25 may pay for a single night at Billy Bob's All You Can Eat Gumbo and Hush Puppies, but in my opinion, shooting someone over $25 makes me want to spit my Beech-Nut juice out in disgust.

How do you know that? I can say the same with cars. There's only one of you and yet you have to cars? There's only one of you and yet you have three or four computers? There's only one of you and yet you have more than one tv?

Why? As long as he's law abiding I don't care if he owns a fully functional Abrams tank. In fact I might try to bribe him into letting me ride it and maybe fire off a round at a bomb range.

Are you suggesting that has anything to do with the free reign of guns in this country.[/QUOTE]

The bulk of gun crime stats are in ghetto areas of America. I'm not sure why you have some personal issue with the south, but FBI stats prove you wrong.

Prove me wrong how? That murder rates per state, per capita are highest in Mississippi and Louisiana? How are those facts wrong?

And the cities are all virtual Gun Free Zones with very heavily armed criminals.

They are not wrong, but they tell the wrong story. They don't reflect the pinpoint areas of where firearm homicides occur.
Louisiana has a very low per capita gun homicide rate outside of New Orleans, but because New Orleans has a huge ghetto killing field, it reflects on the whole state if you don't narrow it down to where the crimes actually occur.
To have an honest discussion about gun homicide rates, you have to narrow it down to cities to get the real picture of whats happening.

No. What I was pointing out is that guns are not needed for killing someone and in many places guns are not the primary weapon used to kill another human being. Guns are NOT the problem. There are 400+ million that were not involved in any crime all year long last year, and that number is going up. It's the people behind the guns that are the problem. It's also not your beloved "gun bubbas" that are doing the shooting either. It's the criminals, the repeat offenders. The FBI's statistics say that 73% of violent crime is done by repeat offenders. 73% is a massive number of the 8200 firearm related deaths last year. If you took that 73% out, our murder rate is drastically lower, isn't it? The problem isn't the guns, it's the people that we allow to walk free that then go commit another violent crime.

That's what I was leading to. We don't have a gun problem, we have a criminal problem.

I understand that you were making an effort to disparage southerners, instead of making an accurate point about the topic.
Like so many on the left, you are not interested in reducing gun crime statistics. You are more interested in talking bad about firearm owners.
    Take you bigot attitude elsewhere.

Not just narrow to cities, but to where within the cities. The CDC has reported ...

While those figures are from 2010 and 2011, I suspect the percentages are not that different for 2015, except we now have over 320 million people and 400 million guns (thanks to Obama). But, I would speculate that of the remaining percentage, a high rate of crime would be related to selling drugs, and crime associated with getting money for acquiring drugs, usually centered in areas of low economic means and high drug use. Monitoring gun violence in my city, it is rare that gun murders are not associated with gangs or some link to drugs.

Not only making the effort, but succeeding at it.

I would take it to the south, but as I have all of my teeth and look down and see my feet, well, I am not allowed.

You have no argument, there is nothing you can say because of one fact and that fact is if there is no guns no one gets killed by guns and any number taking away from the total will decrease the number that are killed by guns at that rate. If their is 1/2 the guns in this country they will then have only 1/2 the guns to be able to kill with, Get it down to 10% of what they got now and we won't even have to talk about it anymore.

Trite little bumper sticker sayings that aren't true are going to get you exactly where it belongs in the crapper. How about "NO guns, No death by Guns" bumper sticker.

How about "no guns, much crime" except for Japan every gun restrictive country has more crime per 100000.

    Good luck with that.
As it is now there are over 40,000 guns sold in America every day. Until you repeal the 2nd amendment, this trend will continue.

Absolutely true. I live in a rural area and am surrounded by gun nuts, and they are just that, NUTS. They're ALL of the opinion that the 2nd amendment gives them full rights to hunt on my property and use my house, family and pets for target practice at any time of the year. Several of them have paid heavy fines due to that misconception and 2 are now guests of the State, yet still they keep coming. Gun owners think the 2nd amendment gives them the right to kill anything or anybody they want at any time for any reason, they are basically, NUTS. IMO we have to take these dangerous toys away from these overgrown children. You don't give little kids the keys to your car and you shouldn't give people who are demonstrably crazy the means to EASILY kill many people.
