We all came from the code which genetics says has every detail of our being in genes.
We live in this Reality then pass on, then we return again in the future.

As stated....we all make up what we WANT it to be. Genetics does not in any way address your religion.

But...But....'you' were nothing until those genes were put into motion. And BTW, where did those genes come from in the first place? To me it can't be 'nothing' because 'nothing' is a cop-out.

Perhaps what you 'want' is what you get.

Part of my Orthodox belief is that for the first forty days after death the soul wanders around their loved ones, and the places they know. Next time someone dies, pay attention. :oldman:

There is plenty of evidence that there is life after death, or at least an existence of some type.
"One of the experiences I describe is of the renowned psychologist Carl Jung, who died when he had a heart attack in his 60s. He was ultimately revived, and came back describing, in great detail, how he had seen the universe."

There are many 'death travelers' that have had near death experiences, and remember the afterlife.

I believe in a cosmic reality beyond, but intertwined with, the belief of a higher plane of existence. I believe in "Purpose", as opposed to 'non-purpose.' I believe life has meaning. I also believe death is a transition. I do not fault peoples beliefs in a supreme divinity. I fault those that abuse it.

Yes, I'm sure you're all utterly fearless of death, even if you're afraid of spiders, snakes, public speaking or saying no to your mother lest you get evicted from the basement.

I don't suppose you'd care to tell us why you think that disproves an afterlife for bugs, never mind people.

Sure: the fear of death, experienced by everyone at least once and not implanted by cultural indoctrination, suggests humans know intuitively that death is a door behind which may lie something unpleasant.

In this case I have yet to form a conclusion as there is not enough evidence to prove the positive or negative claim.

I am scared of death. It's religious people who shouldn'tbe afraid of death... even though they certainly are.

And why would I think the bug went to bug heaven?

I don't know if there is a bug heaven, (I hope not), but there is a dog heaven. It will be the same type of existence they live in when alive. ..which is only reasonable since they're not able to attain a higher and different existence. So yes they will have grass to run in.

I'm going to miss my dog.

I miss mine too, but there is no reason to believe heaven exists.

Are you saying that you had a near death experience?

Maybe the afterlife is based upon one's belief and is simply the last firing neurons in a dying brain? Who knows for sure, I believe as my father's people do, I will retire to the 'primitive' life I long to live and after...

You don't dream when you're dead. Why you die, you rot and all that you were is gone and whatever was left unsaid or unaccomplished remains so for eternity.

You just can't face facts. You are going to die some day, and there will not be a father figure waiting in paradise.

True, in those ways it is not like a dream. I meant that I would not remember anything.

Well, when your brain drowns in DMT, it will seem like plenty happens after death.

I believe it makes perfect sense if you are honest with yourself. That is....unless you have some experience that you can reproduce for everyone else that proves what happens after we die. Otherwise you are simply expressing your own opinion as fact on the subject.

Now, to be fair, my own mother was declared dead for 16 minutes in the hospital and returned to become a very spiritual (not religious) person who completely changed her life course based on what she "Saw" on the other side. She has told me of the experience in detail and I "Believe" there is something out there....but I do not KNOW it.

But here's what we do know, when we die or are close to dying, the pineal gland releases massive amounts DMT into the brain. I refer you to my post which includes the link to wiki on DMT.

Okay...so SOMETIMES a chemical imbalance is produced as we die, that does not PROVE anything except itself. It simply means we KNOW about it, not what happens when we die to what we call US.
