By recusing himself. Eric Holder would of never done that ****. Now we have a bunch of Democratic attorneys that will stop at nothing to shame the President, even if nothing is there.

Trump said, today, that Sessions is "very weak on Hillary Clinton's crimes". But shortly after winning the election, Trump himself said that Clinton is a good person, and he isn't going to hurt her by pursuing charges. (Or something along those lines) The "lock her up" crowd was disappointed by it. So why is he now calling Sessions "very weak on Clinton's crimes"?

I think it is obvious to everyone who is not blinded by political prejudice that Trump is trying to dump Sessions and replace him with someone who will agree to stop Mueller's independent investigation into Trump's ties to Putin.

It's a bit difficult to have any sympathy for Sessions unless one is a hardline ideologue, but on the other hand, if Trump gets his way and follows in the footsteps of Richard Nixon, he will probably meet Nixon's fate, impeachment.

Trump may not be very worried about being impeached. He has already used his presidency to direct hundreds of millions of dollars if not billions into his own bank account. How many ill-gotten gains does one person need? If he's kicked out of office, he can laugh all the way to the bank.

If it turns out that Trump is criminally charged and turns out to not have the power to pardon himself, does anyone doubt that Mike Pence will issue the pardon in his first week in office?

By now, I don't think anyone should be surprised at Trump's erratic behavior. Contradicting himself is a case of "Trump being Trump."

Sessions recusal over the Russian matter is the right thing to do.

Because Trump is a liar, and says whatever comes to his mind, regardless of what he has said in the past. Trumps' admin is looking more and more like a total train wreck every week.

If so, than as I've said, Mueller must recuse himself for his relationship with Comey, and any donor to the Clinton campaign must recuse themselves similarly. All I want is a level playing field. (And for the record, I don't believe that the contact which Sessions had with Russians was enough to warrant his recusing himself, but that's water under the bridge...).

Up and until Trump fired Comey, both political parties wanted him gone. Then it became politically expedient, advantageous for the Democrats to raise holy hell. The Democrats even called Comey a Republican Party stooge.

I don't blame Trump in trying to find another way to get rid of Sessions other than firing.

He should be pissed at the media, shouldn't he? They're the ones driving this investigation. Not Sessions.

Holy **** -- talk about throwing him under the bus -- backing up, and running over him again and again.

Look at the latest:Trump trashes his attorney general yet again: Sessions just wanted to be a part of my big crowds

"President Donald Trump has once again openly bashed his Attorney General.

Jeff Sessions was the only Senator to endorse Trump in the primary, but President Trump is no longer giving him credit for his political support, claiming Sessions only endorsed him because of Trump’s crowd sizes.

“When they say he endorsed me, I went to Alabama,” Trump said in an interview with The Wall Street Journal. “I had 40,000 people.”

“But he was a senator, he looks at 40,000 people and he probably says, ’What do I have to lose?’ And he endorsed me,” Trump explained. “So it’s not like a great loyal thing about the endorsement.”

“I’m very disappointed in Jeff Sessions,” Trump added.

President Trump is also now openly talking of firing Attorney General Sessions, but won’t reveal if he plans to oust him.

“I’m just looking at it,” Trump said when asked why he has criticized Sessions without firing him. “I’ll just see. It’s a very important thing.”

I do not believe that is the reason he recused himself but I will check.

PS! Yes it us over Sessions answer about meeting with Russians so he did the right thing by recusing himself.

    That's ridiculous. On stilts.

"(And for the record, I don't believe that the contact which Sessions had with Russians was enough to warrant his recusing himself, but that's water under the bridge...)."

He recused himself because the investigation is into the Trump Campaign -- which Sessions was deeply a part of - not simply as you say, "his contact with the Russians."

    Look at the regulations.

Well, I usually chalk up his contradictions/lies in the media to misunderstandings and partisan gotchas. But this one is clear to me. He said he would not go after Clinton. Now he's publicly faulting his own Attorney General, for not going after Clinton. I think the over used term, jaw dropping, is appropriate because my estimation of him fell hard by several degrees over this.

I'm just for equaling the political field. Obama got away with everything. And while I have no doubt Trump is not guilty, the media and talking about it everyday, distracting us from actual policy advancement. Nothing but a bunch of swindlers trying neuter Trump's power. That is all this is.

He wants to get rid of Sessions because he needs an AG who hasn't recused himself and can fire Mueller.

Sessions is just doing the Kabuki dance. They both know this
