    What's shut down? Seriously. If Congress doesn't pass a budget or doesnt pass a continuing resolution will SSI checks fail to be sent on the first, third and fifteenth? No! Will foodstamps fail to fund on EBT cards? No!

    What stops? Federal employees get a paid vacation, they're still paid for the day's missed durring 'shutdowns'.

    It's meaningless in the short term.

    We had a slow, gradual recovery.

    Had Obama caved into the Republicans in 2009-2011, we would have had a depression (and we'd still be in it).

    Contrary to your largely false post (again), SSI checks are in danger, with two weeks to go.

    If it goes on much longer, contractors working on Federally funded projects of all sorts will not be getting paid.

    And, contrary to your dishonest attempts to portray otherwise, SSI has NEVER missed a payment.

    EBT cards will fail to be funded in a matter of days.

    But your weak and dishonest attempts to pretend otherwise do make one thing very clear.

    You know, not too deep down, that this is Trump's mess, and that he will get the well deserved blame.

    I'm likely to vote GOP over this just to give them the supermajority they need to pass things, seriously, DACA and other issues need to be separate from funding the government and meeting its obligations to say paying our Federal workers and armed forces who are doing their jobs and the Congress has only certain jobs like funding the government. They need to reinstate the old law that automatically funded the government and raised money as needed without them bickering.

    yeah, the top story one liberal Yahoo is how democrats are using a bold strategy to mobilize their base. that sounds a lot like an admission of fault with an attempt ri reframe the argument from illegals first.
