Would there still even be a form if background checks on first-party firearm purchases were eliminated?
Knowing that their name is tied directly to that firearm by the serial number on a government form that is retained for 25 years?
I am 100% confident that some Criminals would gladly bop you in the head and take your gun if they knew they could.
I am 100% sure they would get guns some place else and without having a 4473 that makes conviction much easier
they may try. I'd prefer they be forced to go into the dangerous and often deadly black market to get guns, rather than Walmart.
Except for the fact that they are not. They instead have a friend, family member, or acquaintance purchase the firearm from the federally licensed dealer on their behalf, thus committing a straw purchase.
you act as if criminals are more concerned in an environment they constantly operate on versus signing a form that ties them to weapon and a 5-10 year prison sentence. Where do you think criminals buy and sell narcotics and the stuff they steal to pay for narcotics
No ! Most gun owner's guns almost always get taken away by the criminal and used against the gun owner, and then used to perpetrate many crimes. So says Mother Jones and the Violence Policy Center and The Peer reviewed studies and Empirical Evidence, It works, It works !
Except it is not Dangerous, Criminals wamt to make money, not kill off customers, dead customers can't pay.
there wasn't all that much of it being done before the background check so again you aren't being accurate
And exactly what practical, meaningful difference would such make to the overall situation, when they can already acquire firearms without any difficulty? What importance is had with where they acquire their firearms, when the end result is going to be acquisition no matter what?
Wal-Mart won't sell it to them. They have more stringent rules than federal law. Criminals are not going to buy from a big-box store with a bunch of cameras around. In addition, at Wal-Mart, when you buy a gun, you are escorted to your car by an assistant manager, who carries the gun until you are at your car. You are being videotaped the whole time. No, criminals aren't going to buy guns from Wal-Mart in the real world. They just do that in gun-grabber fantasyland.
The black market criminals buy from is their friends or people they know. They wouldn't go to Walmart to buy guns if they could. Read my other post about walmart gun selling procedures. It's not inconspicous and it is filmed. Why would any criminal ever want that?
