Why am I imagining you as a crazy nun or monk at a random monastery somewhere?

 

The closest I ever got to being a nun or a monk was studying the pipe organ at a Catholic cathedral for 11 years. In my late teens I joined Ananda Marga a strict tantric yoga group. I’m now agnostic. I don’t claim there’s no such thing as a God or Gods but that the concept is meaningless. Human attempts to pretend we know what such being/s are I regard as vain, deluded and often mentally unhealthy, especially if from a young age you’re taught to worship a God who tortured his own son. Enough of the theology.

I’m not sure why not being an athiest would make you ‘invested’, whatever than means. Anyhow, this little electronic coven is about music, not theology so let’s not bore the listeners mate. I do that happily on another section of the forum.

 

Meant to say Simon, Hans was the dead older brother from the first movie.

No, I said that I am an atheist not that it is really important.

 

Anyhow, seeing as we in confession mode here’s an example of the kind of music I spend most time listening to. Not off the web but on my main system which is powerful enough and goes low enough (14hz) to shake your guts to bits. Won’t subject you guys to any more of this for two reasons. One, I’m sure 99% of you will hate it and Two the shitty compression Youtube’s MP3 software inflicts on this stuff robs it of life.

 

On the contrary, I'm a huge fan of Bach.

I'm a big fan of Baroque.

 

Interesting, I’ve noticed a lot of musicians who respect Bach also like a lot of heavy metal. I can’t stand what I think of as bubble gum pop but also enjoy a lot of heavy metal. Some baroque however, especially the kind people tend to play as background dinner music, bores me silly. But hey, there’s a significant percentage of classical music I experience as dull crap with little or no value. Anyhow, your taste’s change with age. As a young hysterical teenager fairy hanging around with : bohemian arty farty university students and lecturers my idea of heaven was to listen over a weekend to the entire Wagner ‘Ring Cycle’. Think I’d rather run my fingernails over sandpaper now than do that. One thing fthat hasn’t changed for me is an absolute hatred of distorted, inferior sound systems. As a young teenagerI uncle left me his stereo system when he died, a huge pair of corner horns, valve pre-amps and two power amps. That and learning the pipe organ in a cathedral meant when I was exposed to tinpot distorted music replay my hair stand on end. So, early on I turned into an audio snob, which I still am. I find a huge number of amateur live bootleg recordings made on portable gear like iPhones totally unlistenable on Youtube.
If you like Bach have a listen to this performance of his Coffee Cantata. Coffee, at the time Bach wrote this, was regared as a dangerous drug . HMM.
Too much of posting this stuff though and people will get really pissed off- - -

Fabulous graphics but what are we being told? That the church is right, if we don’t worship their God we’ll all end up in hell? Or is this just a bit of ‘fun’?

 

I think the artist is just making the connection between the song and the painting. What Bosch was trying to tell us is obviously another matter.

As for myself, I don't believe in a God that would use his children for firewood, so the only message I'm sending is that I like Buckethead and this video...
