Do you remember what you quoted me saying when you said "source". Re-read what I said in post 472 and read the CNN article.

Unless of course you are talking to someone else and responded to me by mistake.

You say 'she claimed to be a "minority" to gain tenure at Harvard'. BuckyBadger says 'to gain favor and wealth'.

The article you linked says 'Warren maintains she never furthered her career by using her heritage to gain advantage, and an in-depth investigation by the Boston Globe, published on September 1, found the same. "At every step of her remarkable rise in the legal profession," the report read, "the people responsible for hiring her saw her as a white woman."

I'm looking for a source more recognized/credible than Bucky's link to Benny Johnson's Twitter feed where there is some substance to the claim that her admittedly unimpressive claim to being Cherokee was in the interest of gaining wealth, favor, tenure etc.

If your beef is with Bucky, then why the hell are you talking to me.

Liz claimed to be a Minority, and Half Cherokee. That's what I AM saying to you. Do I need to cite these again?

    Warren is 0.00098% Indian.

I bet she performs rain dances in her spare time.

Nobody is debating whether or not she claimed to be a minority. The debate is whether that claim was for the sake of gaining 'tenure' as you suggest, or 'wealth and favor' as Bucky suggests.

You stated in post #472 that she admitted her claim to being a minority was to gain tenure at Harvard. Then you supported that statement with an article that directly contradicts the statement you were apparently trying to support.

No, the article says exactly that. She did not claim to be a minority prior to the Law School association. It was then she claimed to be the minority.

Or are you just saying she's ****ing crazy and schizophrenic?

    I could settle for either

'Warren maintains she never furthered her career by using her heritage to gain advantage, and an in-depth investigation by the Boston Globe, published on September 1, found the same.'.

An in depth investigation by the Boston Globe outweighs your assumption that claiming to be a minority after the Law School association translates into having done so to gain tenure at Harvard. Saying that she admitted to seems factually wrong, or at least unsupported.

    Your post makes no sense.

    The facts:

    1. Prior to the LSA she didn't claim to be a documented minority
    2. After being indoctrinated, she claimed to be a minority

    SHE ADMITS TO SAYING SO!

Do I need to cite more?

Where does she admit to doing so to gain tenure at Harvard? That's the part of your claim that I'm asking you support and what you've cited so far has completely contradicted you (and Bucky) on that point.

I didn't say she "admitted" to gaining tenure. I'm saying it's convenient that she labeled herself as such at the appropriate time.

Once again you keep ignoring the facts about Chief Cherokee Liz:

    1. She didn't label herself a minority PRIOR to LSA
    2. After, she DID label herself a minority

    Answer me this question:

    Is Liz Warren a minority?

I Did ask Bucky and you spoke up for him with a comment that reads a lot like you're saying Warren admitted to claiming to be a "minority" to gain tenure at Harvard.

    And

I'm not ignoring those facts, I acknowledged them and admitted that the whole thing is unimpressive.

But if you're not saying that she was claiming Cherokee heritage for the sake of gaining tenure, or that she "admitted" to such, then Cool. No, I don't think Liz Warren is a minority. I also don't think that she claimed to be for the sake of furthering her career.

This is what happens when you engage someone who speaks from a position of almost complete ignorance. Endless questions that have been addressed repeatedly over the course of the thread that leads to him doing nothing to educate himself. Just more endless questions. ;)

and yes, you are currently the Ambassador of PF.... Sir. Enjoy your new post. I thinks in Benghazi. Bring a helmet. :)

I never once said she "admitted" to using her "minority" status for tenure. I'm saying it's awful convenient timing to be claiming to be a minority...when one isn't a minority.

And I never spoke up for anyone, I jumped in to correct the accusation and steer the conversation to the facts that we have which have been cited for you where she claimed to be a minority, and she also claimed (in a separate time) to be half Cherokee Indian.

A claim which the Cherokees are deeply offended by. That's also a source I'd be happy to cite for you

This argument between him and I is similar to arguing with a 9/11 conspiracy theorist.

We can present the facts all day but there's always one little area where someone wants to poke holes to try and "disprove" all of the other proven facts.

The dude spoke up on your behalf after I asked you a question.... then wondered why I didn't ask you a question. Then he cited a credible source that completely contradicts your most significant accusation.

That you can roll off of that feeling smug is asinine.

Reminder that she's whiter than the average white - and the DNA test wasn't only for native americans, but used DNA from all of Latin America as well - and still only found a fraction of a single percentile ^_^

I already directed him to everything he needs to know with sources, links, etc.....it will never ever be enough, though. :)

Ok, let's talk rationally. Why do you suppose she waited until then to claim minority status? I don't have the answer, only my assumption that it was for tenure, which would make the most sense.

What other reasons could there be for such a swing in status?

I have no idea why she claimed minority status on a college register or what prompted her to do so. Honestly, I don't really care but do understand why actual Native Americans would. Again, I find the whole thing to be irresponsible and unimpressive of Warren. I also find the whole thing to relatively unimportant, especially as this was 23-30 years ago?. If your first suspicion was that she misrepresented for the sake of gaining tenure, I understand that. But when the Boston Globe does an investigation and says that her supposed minority background had nothing to do with her promotions at Harvard or anywhere else then for me that assumption no longer holds up.

I'm not saying that this is true of you in particular but I think there are a lot of people in here who argue 'assumption' as fact, on both sides. Today I felt like pushing back on that.

Our conversation started with some confusion. I'm glad we sorted that out. Thanks for being civil.
