    Oh spare us all the minstrel shows were not "attacks" on blacks nor often followed by lynchings. They were almost exclusively shows in the northeast and while mocking blacks so did other such musical shows mock whites. The shows eventually evolved into the vaudeville and burlesque shows of the turn of the century and btw there were black minstrel shows feature black actors/singers/musicians.

    You remind of Al Roker lamenting yesterday how he grew up in the days of Amos and Andy and whites in black faces playing those roles. Well the TV show Rooker would have been watching had black actors playing the black characters.

    I heard an attorney call into a show yesterday and tell of a recent some association Halloween party and four of the guys wanted to dress up in the robes of the SUPREME Court Judges and where wigs and black face and be the guess who........................the SUPREMES. What a funny juxtaposition, the stodgy old Supreme Justices in their robes and the swinging Supremes in then big hair and make and glamor. OH they were told NO WAY, we can't do that anymore. That's crazy it was honoring both by creating something funny out of it. Nothing racist at all about it.

    I agree. I can't say that I liked her, but I felt like she was helpful for balancing the network out a bit so that's it's not just a liberal circle jerk that mirrors the right wing circle jerk that is Fox.

    Did they tell the Wayan brother it was bad to paint them white? How about Downy? What was bad in the case of the lawyers and their funny routine they wanted to do? You don't seem concerned they were also dressing up like women.

    if you are Jimmy Kimmel, Jimmy Fallon, Sarah Silverman, or Ted Danson you can actually put on black face, and no one even cares.
