Christian bakery wins 'gay cake' ruling from UK supreme court

Was that good enough for the left in the US and the other countries that either now have same sex marriage? Is it good enough for the left in countries that do not but are debating it?

 

Are you saying that right wing homophobia is what these bakers and others are practicing in refusing to provide services to same sex weddings?

 

failure to serve the needs of the public such as that gay couple and defending this act of discrimination are all examples of homophobia

 

What about a gay baker refusing to provide a wedding cake for a heterosexual couple?

The bible doesn't say that women are "less than men"
It doesn't say black people are less than white people either.
Or that children are less than adults.
What is toxic is a child growing up in a broken home, fed a diet
of sexualized and violent entertainment, taught that life is all
about sex, that nothing is sacred, relations are increasingly
casual, porn is normal, gambling is normal, drugs are normal..

... you get the picture, I hope.

Fair enough. Maybe it is just the part of the country where I live. I don't know anyone who professes to be a Christian who would even admit to knowing someone who is gay much less support same sex marriage.

There's a problem.
You can call yourself a Christian and be accepting of homosexuality.
But Christianity does not accept homosexuality.
You are therefor not a Christian - you just call yourself one.

 

You mean it doesn't accept homosexual relationships and or homosexual sex?

 

I don't care about the practice.
I have gay friends and gay family members.
I just don't like people talking about gay Christians.
In bible times homosexuality attracted the death penalty.

 

When Christians do it?

 

If Christians engage in homosexuality
or accept the practice - it's the same.
It's also the same if Christians divorce
or are okay with divorce.
Or engage in adultery, or accept adultery.

It's black and white.
I feel that if people engage in gay sex,
adultery, porn, pedophilia, cheating on
their spouses and the like then they
shouldn't call themselves Christian. Find
something else to call yourself or else
you drag down what you claim to believe.

 

...but of course, let's not get carried away here. I think we all know that the only reason that the bakery won was because of the requested messaging on the cake. My guess is that many liberals would say that a request such as this should be legal to refuse, especially in a US context where that little thing called the First Amendment would allow it to be legal. Although I would like to hope that even in the UK, most liberals would say that people shouldn't be compelled to create messages that they do not agree with, although I note that a Belfast court initially found in favour of the gay guy, but that could just be down to a scumbag, activist, authoritarian, piece of human waste judge. Is there actually nothing in British law which protects freedom of speech or expression in AT LEAST some degree? @HonestJoe, @cerberus, @Jim Nash.

Human sexuality is influenced by both genetic as well as environmental factors. I am not saying homosexuality is strictly a choice. I just don't think it's purely genetic, either.

 

Well there is no evidence to support anything other than this. Part nature or part nurture is the absolute most that we know from research. And I think that this includes the possibility that for some people it is 100% nature or 100% nurture.
