That makes sense - our decisions and actions are so bizarre, and the complete reverse of what logic dictates they should be, that it does look like we (US and UK) do have some kind of death wish.

 

Sorry, Christians are projected to grow 35% between 2015 and 2050 globally. The same Pew survey found the percentage of no religion will shrink in that time.

If you really think your life is in danger from Christians, perhaps counseling will help.

It might have to do more with population aging in wealthier countries coupled with population momentum in poorer ones where many Muslims live.

 

That's true, and provided they could be accommodated, well done us. But how times change . . . that now we're welcoming into our countries those who want to change our culture at best, and kill us at worst.

This is the case in the entirety of the Middle East. The Ottomans largely forbade ANY dissent in all areas save one, and that area was religion so they pushed all their dissent into religion. When the Ottomans went away the religion remained, and became the new vehicle for dissent against the new masters from the West, which situation persists to this day. Nobody is going to get anywhere by attacking peoples's religion, instead we need to support leaders who advocate for freedom and democracy for their populations and let the oppressiveness of their religion take care of itself. This is what happened with Christianity and it will happen with Islam too IF we stop attacking the religion directly, which attacking does nothing more than make the fanatics double down

 

So you think if we do nothing it will eventually go away.
I doubt that.
And if we are going to take that approach, we should let them evolve in their own countries,
and maybe in 500 years or so, they will be civilized.

At one time America's watchwords were very. similar to the Borg

And that is what made us great as a country. Now we seem to think we can become great as a hermit kingdom, like Old China. Our mandarins loudly proclaiming our superiority to all who will listen and most of us watching the world go by, clinging to outmoded and bizarre customs and paralyzed by our fear of change

 

This is but a temporary drift from what our country stands for and truly means to the world at large and will hopefully go away with new leadership in a couple years. Basically Trumpism cannot defeat our Constitution and centuries of progress toward its ideals.

 

EDUCATION

Stop the bullsh-t of making excuses, and call a spade a spade.
Learn what the religion is all about.
That applies to Muslims and Kafir alike

You people baffle me. You say we are at war with terrorism yet when refugees from that conflict seek succour here you want to turn them away. These people know the language, the customs, and have even more reason than us to hate Islamic Fundamentalism, yet you want to send them back to join their countrymen in hating us. "The enemy of my enemy is my friend" Is the wisdom of that completely lost to you?

Instead of attacking Islam we need to support men like Turkey's famous Ataturk. His most famous quote is:

"I have no religion, and at times I wish all religions at the bottom of the sea. He is a weak ruler who needs religion to uphold his government; it is as if he would catch his people in a trap. My people are going to learn the principles of democracy, the dictates of truth and the teachings of science. Superstition must go. Let them worship as they will; every man can follow his own conscience, provided it does not interfere with sane reason or bid him against the liberty of his fellow-men."

Who can argue with that? Instead Trump's minion will soon be serving a prison sentence for promising to illegally turn over a man who is the closest thing we have to that to the religious fanatic dictator that is ruling Turkey now.

 

If we can get a leader of an Islamic country that will reject the religion,
it will still take a few generations to remove it.
If the guy can survive.

 

Religions in general oppose education that falls outside accepted Dogma and Islam is by far the most "Aggressive" in this. Christianity gets pissy about it and Islam goes into Jihad....that alternative is a no go before it starts. If you wish to stop the BS then begin by eliminating religion completely.

 

500 years ago we could do that, and should have, but it is not PC anymore.

 

It was NEVER PC and never will be, but like many important things in the past, strong people can do it anyway.

 

Honest education is never objectionable to anyone but let's show both sides of the story. Islam should be let to defend itself.

 

I hope so, but I had never thought someone so anti-American could even come close to winning the Presidency.

 

It is unfortunate and the result (primarily) of our population also drifting,,,,,this too will pass. Already the "Trumpist Light" faction is pealing away, probably to avoid eventual ridicule, but the hardcore will stay till the end and deal with the results with anger and bitterness. It will probably take a decade to regain what has been lost, but we as a country have been through far worse and arisen better for it.
