Doubles down on his nonsense. Try having people get jobs and earn things. That is how society functions. Yes, I believe that people should earn what they have. Try putting the mentally ill in mental hospitals and not in homes where they can go on killing people and living off the backs of others. Yes, society should be doing a better job with the mentally ill. Maybe if we didn't have to support so many drug users and illegals, society would have more money to throw at these causes. Wrong, the tone was not already set. As it was explained to you before, it was Guiliani coming in with his campaign promises and his agenda that started the transformation of the NYC. It was Rudy's policy to move all homeless into shelters and give them 90 days before evicting them. It was Rudy's policy to go after organized and petty crime, clean up the porn shops in TS, sweep out subways, clean up the police departments. Everything was in decay from 2 decades of poor leadership and Democrat corruption. None of that was "already in the works".... You just post nonsense and back it up with nothing.
Neither Seattle nor SF seems to lack people wanting to move there. Not for me … but I sort of like living where the confederate flag is still the state flag, and I have Mon off for "confederate memorial day."
Last 3 Baltimore mayors - Sheila Dixon: Convicted of stealing gift cards from the poor - Stephanie Rawlings-Blake: Stepped down after promoting the Baltimore Riots - Catherine Pugh: Raided by FBI for taking bribes All Donkettes. Anyone surprised?
Oh, you want people to earn things. Oh, OK. And in that same sentence, you propose putting the mentally ill in hospitals. Great. How will they "earn" that? I think the problem is this. You know nothing, Jon Snow. I have a family member by marriage who has schizophrenia. She has a master's degree in business and studied more than I did in college. She is a firm believer in God and Jesus. And she hasn't been able to have a job for over 30 years now. To put her in such care as you describe would cost more than her five children can afford given they obligations of their own. So tell me, how is she supposed to earn the solution you just proposed? She's fortunate that her children CAN afford to pay her tax bill on her parents home so she has a place to live, but it's a **** hole because she can't clean it or take care of herself. Many aren't that fortunate. So again, you know nothing, your so called solution proves it, and you contradicted yourself in it. So again, dumbest thing I've read all year. Fine, if you want to declare yourself the winner, go for it. I'm not going to argue about Guiliani as that's a whole separate thread. Here's a whole reading list for you. It has opinions and factual stories. Go read. Many of these sources are the basis for my conclusion. Yours is based on unicorns and pixie dust. https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-1-d&q=rudy+guiliani+cleaned+up+new+york Nothing in there supports your version of history. I won't reply on this anymore in this thread. Make a new one if you want to discuss it.
No more surprised than the republican politicians who are embroiled in scandals. The reason more democratic mayors are involved in scandals is because republican mayors can't win elections. Mostly because they don't want to govern or do anything. That doesn't appeal to voters at the city level.
Yea, I want people to earn what they have, I don't want America to turn into a Venezuelan hellhole. Yes, the mentally ill and people that are a danger to society need to confined to a mental hospital where they can get the proper help they need. More money should be spent on those resources. I don't care about your silly example either. That has nothing to do with giving everyone who is homeless their own home, paid for by taxpayers who have had to earn their living. Society should not have to support huge populations of homeless people by giving them homes. It doesn't solve the issue, it just makes it worse. I already have as I have facts and common sense on my side. I have no interest in starting another thread so you can make up more nonsense.
Not at all. They had major issues back in the 90's that were bad, now, it's even worse. The ghettos around the Camden Yards is such a sick site. Roving bands of gangs are very common there. They walk around beating the crap out of people they come across and destroying cars and property.
I disagree that Seattle is dying. Just last night, they drafted DE L.J Collier in the 1st round and did a great job of trading down that granted them quite a few picks later in the draft.
I know my way around these places very well. There are many homeless people in America. Instead of always putting places down by showing pictures of urine and needles, why don’t you and your hero Trump try to do something positive to get these people off the streets.
Watch the video. Start at 43:30. They say that their solutuon has a high rate of success. They aren't giving out free stuff. They are arresting people, imprisoning them, and forcing treatment upon them. The reason that shelters don't help is that the people have to voluntarily give up their addictions.
I've seen this posted on several websites and wonder why this campaign of lies is taking place. As pointed out by some commentators, Seattle is ranked as the #1 big city in the USA for quality of life and other issues. So where do the right wingers dream up this garbage when the facts say the precise opposite of these lies???
Typical Republican propaganda. And they repeat it in lickspittle fashion, it's all they know. My friends love it in Seattle. Wasn't that the home of Boeing for half a century, helping win WWII? And now Boeing has moved to South Carolina, where people will work for little or nothing. (No unions allowed). And now the low quality of work done at Boeing has the company on the ropes...
Louisville is the same way. 60 years of Democrat control and the city is going bankrupt and shutting down public pools to save money.
So the local ABC network TV channel is Fake News. That's plausible. I wonder how much it cost to set up those fake encampments and pay the actors, set designers, and work crew. I assume that they raided the local dump for the materials.
Hmmm, the video never mentions politics other than the City Council. I bet you didn't watch it. You also think that drug addicts are homeless by chance. Another reason I know you didn't watch it.
You really should watch the video. It is a remarkable piece of journalism (weird how a local news outlet can do a better job of journalism than the national outlets). Basically it comes down to the city not enforcing drug laws. The city is now overrun with homeless junkies (WHO ARE GETTING NO HELP) who are ruining their own lives while degrading the quality of life for everybody else. They compared Seattle to Rhode Island which does enforce their drug laws BUT who also go above and beyond in their attempts to cure addicts while incarcerated (93% of released drug offenders do NOT reoffend upon release according to the piece). Make no mistake, if you try and convict a drug addict and incarcerate them for an extended period of time, you are helping them. Liberals don't get this but I do. My cousin's life was saved via incarceration. He was an addict who did five years and came out clean and sober and has lived an exemplary life ever since. When you arrest an addict and then simply release them, you are harming the community you release him to but you are also harming (and possibly killing) the person you released. Every reformed drug addict will tell you this.
And "overrun" is just pathetic bombastic hyperbole. I've spent a lot of time in Seattle. There are a few small pockets of homelessness, but 95% of the city is clean and middle to upper class.
Possibly.... but I really really would love it if you would watch the video. It seems very non-partisan and is exceptionally well done. It truly is a remarkable piece of journalism from my perspective. You are an intelligent guy (I have seen you make persuasive arguments on this forum) who has a different worldview than I do therefor I am extremely curious to know what your reaction to the video is.
yes one Homeless Guy did all this A map showing locations of San Francisco’s public defecation reports, with a brown dot for each incident.
Then you're willfully ignorant or just plain blind. I have lived her for 30 years and it has been going down hill for at least the last 15 years.
