The question is aimed at getting an undercount of children who are citizens through birthright but whose parents are here illegally. The motives are to reduce redistricting and federal aid to states with larger percentages of birthright children.

But the question isn't whether or not that's a "right thing to do," but rather whether its just something congress has the power to do and whether its anything for the SC to bother with. Sort of like taxing for Obamacare.

No, because you're given a song a dance answer w/o really giving an answer. Congressional districts currently have populations of about 710,000 people. But if only citizens, rather than total population, were counted, then, for example, an area with 1.2 million people, including 500,000 non-citizens, would have the same representation as an area with 710,000 people.

How in the hell does that help Republicans?? And on that matter where is this "evidence" that the ACLU was saying. You read the article from ABC..... there is nothing there.

And why would the 500k illegals influence the representation. They're not citizen. The elected are there to represent CITIZENS not illegals.

    That doesn't answer the question.

People who are here illegally can't affect the vote one way or the other.

Therefore, them being here illegally could never help white republicans one way or another.

Unless, of course, you're saying you'd like to use them to illegally elect those white male Democrats that are the leading Democrats so that you can keep your slave class.

    Is that what you're saying?

    Of course it does.

Please explain how not having illegal aliens NOT answer the census elects Republicans then.

Then you can explain how not voting helps elect white Republicans.

Because it’ll mean less congressional representation for areas with a lot of non citizens.
Please explain what it has to do with votingv

Since congress is supposed to represent CITIZENS, then what is wrong with that?

Nothing that means much of anything since this is about constitutional law and not what some dead guy thought or wrote. Going to be hard to say it is unconstitutional since it was on the census up until 1950.

I did, that’s how I know it’s not about voting, it’s about congressional apportionment

Oh so how much congressional representation would you like to give other countries?

Maybe we could send out 8 billion absentee ballots.

Then the census can reveal not only how many citizens are in a given area, but also how many illegal aliens as well.

Yeah that's why it mentions voting and the voting rights act about 10 times.

Still just a constitutional question. Explain how it would be unconstitutional.

Oh so if we were to, say, sneak 10,000 russians in every month you'd be cool with that.

Then if they are uncomfortable with providing an honest answer relating to something as basic as citizenship itself, due entirely to their connections to ongoing illegal activities, perhaps they should not actually be participating in the election process to begin with.

What was presented was nothing more than opinion, rather than fact.
