Look a little deeper. The word has got out that the raids will begin on Sunday, so the illegals will be staying in their houses. Remember it starts on Sunday, no date has been given for when it stops. This will hit the employers of illegals hard if their workers don't show up for weeks on end because they are afraid of being caught and deported. As for the mayors protecting them. The moment they break Federal law they are subject to arrest, which upon conviction means they cannot hold public office again. It's a good plan.
Well, considering how many hospitals that have had to close their doors because of illegals it more than likely is the illegals running the ER bills to astronomical amounts.
Geez let's just make illegal immigration a class A felony, punishable by life imprisonment. Think of all the money in private prisons, the slave labor force, and if all illegal immigrants become permanent inmattes, without constitutional rights, there will be no immigration problem right? For many on the right, nothing short of that will ever satisfy.
I was watching a program the other day and they were talking to some gal who is a citizen living in Ohio - not sure got here but she was originally from Mexico. She was talking about all her relatives and friends that have been deported. One was her brother who came here when he was 5. Growing up in Ohio he never learned to speak Spanish - he was around 20 at the time of deportation. iHe wasn't a criminal and was working at some factory in the town. I can't come up with any coherent moral, sociological or legal rational for deporting such a person.
Uncle Sam sent me to some shithole country for 13 months and I didn't speak Vietnamese. But quickly learned enough to get bye on.
No, and I pay taxes. What's your point? That I could go live in the streets without consequences? No thanks.
We are talking about seizures (arrests), not searches. I suspect the agents will have all the authority to arrest that they need. Unfortunately, there will be no one home when they kick in the door because the raids have been telegraphed. So it really doesnt matter.
And just for everyone 's information, aliens don't even have to know their rights. ICE officers are only looking for people with final orders (and fingerprints). If there is someone caught during the raid that does not have a final order but who is illegal, they are not deported; they are arrested and given a court date (at which they will not show up, of course) after which the order becomes final unless they are granted asylum in the meantime. This is the fairest cou try in the world. And the best. That's why they come here, even under the Trump regime.
I agree wholeheartedly with that last sentence, which is why I am so concerned about Trump's apparent desires to end that status.
"Dere aint no razizm roun' cheyre, dese dahies jez try to swim da rivah with 600lbs a' stolen chain wrapped round 'em ".
Something tells me many conservative posts on this forum would be perfect for display in a museum exhibit of how far we fell during this period...
Much agreed. Most people here are nice but one or two are right round the bend and the scary part is there are more and more of them while nobody seems to care. To put another spin on it as time goes on I am a good deal less worried about Trump than the Trumpers.
Who exactly is calling for reinstatement of slavery? Or even segregation? Name one or take that silly post down. It's embarrassing.
The people targeted in this roundup have already been issued deportation orders. The Administration is just completing the sentence.
Cantaloupe Caligula's "zero tolerance" policy and violation of American refugee law and treaty sure as sh!t is.
You said 1847. I took out the 1 to show how far behind the times some conservatives seem, both really have little to do with slavery. I leave embarrassing posts so as not to repeat them, and so people don't come to expect a lot of me.
I'm not talking about that desire. One desire I am talking about is his feelings that an American BORN judge should be removed from a case against him because he had an Hispanic last name
