Why is it the President's responsibility to do anything about guns? He is not a dictator. It is up to the Congress Critters to write laws.

Strictly speaking, all federal gun laws should be declared unconstitutional because the Constitution does not give the federal government the right to control guns. Gun control is a State issue but the States can't ban guns because that it a violation of the 2nd Amendment. Some States have very liberal gun laws and some have more restrictive laws. The first gun control law was passed by a State. It prohibited the carrying of concealed guns but the State court eventually declared it unconstitutional.
