No President has the power to confiscate any weapon, with the possible exceptions as a wartime power in Article II or with Congressional empowerment in Article I.

There is an estimated 200 million guns in the US. The military is mostly conservatives. There are a lot of conservatives in law enforcement. Who does the gun banners think are going to confiscate people's guns? Our sheriff is just one of many that won't even enforce the 30 round magazine ban in Colorado.

 

Simple, you want to buy a gun, you agree to a background check. Gun store send in the information for a background check, so in a sense, they are doing the enforcement.
