There were only 538 votes in the 2016 presidential election. I don't know where you're getting this ridiculous 3 million number from.
I know of no presidential election that could possibly involve 130 million electors. There are currently only 538 presidential electors.
It’s just math. Almost 130 million Americans voted in the 2016 presidential election. Most of which for Clinton. A few weeks later the EC selected trump.
Um, you know that a strawman requires that I attribute something to you. "I know of no presidential election that could possibly involve 130 million electors. There are currently only 538 presidential electors." Nothing at all attributed to you. Would you like to try again, or just have everyone laugh at you?
Yeah...we know. Unfortunately you do so with great persistence and regularity. Also, it is a popular misconception that when there is a presidential vote people vote for a president. Who people actually vote for are presidential electors. When a candidate qualifies for each state ballot, they designate an elector to represent them if they win that popular vote within the state. (Each state's rules on this varies). There are some states whose electors are not even required to cast the vote for the candidate that they represent. For example, if Trump won the popular vote in a given state, the elector could still conceivably cast their vote for Warren
Not unfortunately, fortunately. A hundred years from now, people are going to read the writings of these slavers. It will be awesome. Keep 'em talking.
You know the Electors can vote as they wish regardless of their written declarations to vote as the vote went it would be Constitutional for them to vote their conviction so there are no assurances. And if I was in a non-compact state and this becomes real I would ignore your state if your not in it so good luck disenfranchising everyone else, In addition to a Constitutional challenge to such an arrangement if I was in Congress I would pass a bill and determine multistate agreements like this making them illegal Federally and let the Supreme Court decide the matter.
But the other 1/2 live in the blue bits. Some lown farmer 20 miles from their nearest neighbor shouldn't have 500X the voting power of someone living in a 400SF studio apartment in Manhattan.
One is indoctrinated the other is not, I think that's why the founding fathers made the electoral college. They knew people would become indoctrinated by ultra left wing teachers into a bizzaro world that could ultimately destroy America
In other words, "stir-the-shat" for no cogent reason whatsoever. Aka, "caveman mentality". No other country on earth has adopted what you propose above, because most sufficiently developed people understand that in any economic entity in unity-there-is-strength. Especially in a market-economy where Supply&Demand is universal. In any democracy, the whole is always greater than the sum of its parts ... PS: And now that I think it of, why not revoke the CONSTITUTION? Because that is what you are proposing!
Once again.. What is the Electoral College? In France, the president was elected by the legislature from 1875 to 1954. ... The electoral college was replaced after the 1962 referendum, with direct elections by popular vote, using a Two-round system since 1965. Once again, you cannot see beyond you myopic state towards the merit of a national unity. The state must always prevail over the country! That is pathetic nonsense! The state has its privileges as protected by the constitution, but in terms of national defense and economic development, the whole of any nation is greater than the sum of its parts. Which is a simple notion you cannot seem to understand. Yet another one who never needed to take a course in Civics to get a High-school Diploma. Civics education must understand the laws and history of the country, not what one makes up on feelings and emotions
Nope. In 2016, the voters voted for Clinton, trump, or a handful of 3rd party candidates. Trump and Clinton were on the ballot in every state.
I don’t understand why you can’t address what I say, and instead address what you say and attribute to me?
The three million votes you referred to. Where did they go, because they clearly didn't effect the election.
Never said they effected the election. I correctly pointed out the American people chose Clinton for president, by a 3 million vote margin. The EC selected trump a week or so later.
