I've been watching a lot of old VCR movies: Tin Cup, Hurricane, Bull Durham, Titanic, Philadelphia.
I've got a big collection.

 

We don’t have any VCR tapes or a player any more. We passed boxes of them on to a schizophrenic friend who was ecstatic! “ Wow, all the Harry Potters!”

 

I don't know, guys but I've seen "War of the Worlds" 1953 (the only version I've seen) about 50 times and every time I see it, it always ends with people huddling together in churches to seek their last chance to be one with God. It seems like a terrible betrayal of celestial faith and the Almighty to close the doors and ignore humanity in this, our hour of greatest need.

 

I’m sure God will understand.

 

The church is not a building. It is made up of everyone who believes.

 

LOL! Sallyally, I am just like your friend. I love my VCR. My kids tease me all the time, saying "Mom, Netflex and Hulu are only a few dollars a month. Get rid of that VCR".
But, I'm keeping it.

I don't live in fear. Worrying isn't going to change it, so deal with it as it comes, and make the best out of it.

The worst that can happen at this point is I get an extended vacation. Lots of projects at home to keep me busy.

 

From my days when I enjoyed organized religion, to the days when I have made my own path to what ever deity there may be, you don't need to be in a building to be one with whatever power you believe in. You don't wait to the last moment to make your peace. You do it every day, wherever you are.

Back to the primary discussion:

I live in St. Augustine, Florida. While we're not on any official lock-down, we might as well be.

Restaurants and bars (with two exceptions that I'm aware of) are closed. Our movie theater closed until further notice earlier today. We're a tourist town, but all of the tourist attractions (Castillo de San Marcos, The Old Jail, Fountain of Youth, tour trolleys, etc) are all closed.

And, for the record, the whole "Fountain of Youth" thing is fake news; doesn't work.

The list of closures seems to grow by the hour. No one is being ordered to stay home, though, probably because there's nothing for anyone to go out and do...

 

You've pretty much described Houston, Texas. You can still go to work if your place of employment hasn't shut down, but aside from that most doors are closed.

 

The new American entertainment fad is to go on a scavenger hunt for toilet paper, eggs, rice and beans at the only places which remain open.

 

Bars and restaurants closed to seating take out or curb service only. Schools and government offices closed. Beaches and entertainment venues closed.

 

What about oil-drum deep fry crab parties?

 

Thank god for the boy scout paper drive.

This is a good time to:
1) Read those books you've been intending to read.
2) Catch up on your journaling.
3) Call the friends and family members you haven't talked to in awhile.
4) Write letters to friends and family members.

 

SPRING CLEANING!!! I usually get around to spring cleaning by August or September. Maybe this year I'll get 'er done while it's still early Spring.
