What was the 'international law' concerning 1948? The UN mandate divided Palestine and
the Arabs tried to exterminate the Jews. We can't pick and choose our laws.

To the first part I agree 100% ... to the second part I must say "Because it is against international law ..."

Question: Why did the surviving Nazis in Nuremberg end up in the dock of the war criminal tribunal alongside other crimes such as the Holocaust? Waging a war of aggression and conquest!
The West Bank has been under the control of Israel since the 6 day war ... and even if it was, in my opinion, a well-founded preventive attack by Israel, it was at least an attack by Israel and can be rated as a war of aggressions with the result that since then Israel has control of the West Bank!

It would be sheer irony to do a Nürnberg 2 against Israel in the end, isn't it?

Correct ... and the Arabs failed as we all know in 1948. ;-)

I can't make sense out of your post - you conflate two things that don't go together. What law are we picking and choosing - and what do the Israeli's and Arabs trying to exterminate each other for 80 years in this blood feud have to do with anything.

There is a song should listen to - Early Early Genesis - not even sure Phil Collins had joined the band yet - called "The Battel of Epping forest" :)

You have a very myopic and one sided perspective - likely due to religious belief - as in the above song.

Choosing sides in a blood feud (speaking of picking and choosing) - only serves to prolong the feud. There is no right and wrong side in a blood feud.

OH - they killed one of ours so we will kill one of there's .. and back and forth and back and forth - for years and years till no one remembers why they are killing each other anymore - sans the last person that was killed - which is akin to what you are arguing - do enjoy the song - a little music for everyone in this ballad - presented to you by Peter the Great .... Peter G .. the man .. the myth .. the legend.

As far as the Land - Britain owned the land after the war - needed a homeland for the Jews - US especially was pushing for this and there was somewhat of a religious element..

In any case - The Jews were offered a homeland - here is your homeland - here are its border - UN was designated the responsible party - for oversight /implementation.

Shortly after .. "Between 1947 and 1949, at least 750,000 Palestinians from a 1.9 million population were made refugees beyond the borders of the state"

So - the Jews were given a homeland but, it was in an area were people lived .. and folks kicked out were not happy - nor were their Muslim brothers and sisters watching this disaster - right from the get go.

It didn't help that between 47-49 - 750,000 people were turned into refugee's -to make room for the new Jewish Homeland. Kind of like how China moved folks to build a dam.. - except China took better care of those it displaced. Palestinians were turned into refugees.

Not a good situation - and the Blood Feud has been waging ever since.

International law said Palestine will be shared between Jew and Arab. The Arabs rejected that law
and the Jews embraced it. You can't say that a nation violated international law when its enemies
violated the same law to exterminate you.
Better the Palestinians do a deal while they still have some land left. They have been offered many
deals. One criticism of Palestinians, by other Arabs, is they accept Israeli deals after they have been
    removed from the table.
Was it Rabin who offered the Gazans open borders, industrial parks for employment, an airfield, port
and rail connection? All rejected by Hamas. Go figure.

Yes you can say a nation violated international law - when its enemies 1) violated some law 2) wanted to exterminate you.

Regardless- what international law did the Palestinians violate ? no idea what you are referring to .. some context would be nice as generalizations as you are making do not cut it. This is a blood feud .. there are violations on both sides ..

This does not make the violations by either side "NOT" violations somehow ... which is what you are suggesting ... and that makes no sense.

You then wander on a completely different page .. completely new argument for who knows what - saying "The Palestinians should have accepted" ..

Accepted what .. what was in the deal .. which deal .. The Palestinians did accept some of the deals .. This has been an 70 year blood feud .. deals made and broken .. so many times .. the latest breach was by Netenyahoo .. Targeting the Leader of the Palestinian Resistance .. the eve after signing a cease fire .. with the same fellow.

Since this was the latest episode in this 70 year soap opera - how about we discuss that one.

Did you not listen to the lovely song ?

This thread is a classic example of the damage marriage between ignorance and wishful thinking can inflict on people's perceptions. Concepts like international law, or the principle of proportionality in war, are distorted to make them mean something else entirely, in order to fit biases and prejudices. Jews are denied their own history, even the right to exist as a nation. All this in the age of incredibly easy access to information.

    Pfft.

This is not a blood feud, it's not even a border feud - it's a land feud.
From Jordan to the sea, radicals on both sides see this as their possession.
Only, radicals have influence in Israel, but control of Palestine.

The law was UN general assembly plan 181 which divided Palestine between
    Arab and Jew.

We need to stop treating Israel as if its the 51st state. It is the most one sided alliance in the world and causes nothing but problems.

On what do you need advice - w/r to accepting a bad agreement - and myopic focus on one unrelated incident from a post where the poster had wandered down a rabbit hole

Trump was in love with Israel - As is his daughter. Top of the food chain on the scale of Biological Determinism

Since you did not say Arabs but people. Many more people than that were turned into refugees, and they were Jews.

I was only half-joking when I suggested, sleepy Joe may reverse peace agreements between Israel and its Arab neighbors. I'm past seeking sanity among Democrats.

Omar suggests Biden should 'reverse' Trump's Middle East agreements, says they 'weren't peace deals'

The Jewish exodus from Arab and Muslim countries, or Jewish exodus from Arab countries, was the departure, flight, expulsion, evacuation and migration of 850,000 Jews,[1][2] primarily of Sephardi and Mizrahi background, from Arab countries and the Muslim world, mainly from 1948 to the early 1970s
