They have already been doing a bit of prep for a renewed assault on democracy. With Ossoff over 10,000 up & 70,000+ votes from overwhelmingly Dem areas left to count, I'd say the disinformation machine will be kicking into high gear very shortly. They are no longer capable of accepting defeat and they will do their best to wreck democracy in America based on that belief.

Almost as 'glorious' as the conservative melt down has been.

I hope his economic performance doesn't compare, the loser trashed our economy, the right ALWAYS tanks the economy.

They cheated only in your fertile imagination. Free and fair elections that you lost. Get over it.

By the way you have just showed the inherent weakness of the "cheated" idea. If the Democrats actually did have the nationwide organization to cheat like you guys think, they'd have captured the Senate much more easily, and wouldn't have lost seats in the House.

What happened is rather that 80 million American voters were sick and tired of that clown who defiled the Oval Office for four years, including voters who voted for Republican senators and representatives (like me).

    Folks,

    We just had.......

........a runoff election meticulously organized and oversaw by Republicans

.......a record high 8,000 Republican Observers

.......by far, the most scrutinized election

If all of the above ain't good enough for Trump and his loyalists, then what would restore confidence and integrity in our electoral system?

    Answer; I don't know

However, what I do know is; Our American democracy is no longer the envy of the world.

This should teach the Republican sycophants in the House and Senate that they are backing the wrong horse. Trump lost the election even in numerous precincts that went for Republicans down ballot, showing that Trump is the problem. Then he cost the Republicans the Senate, by attacking the integrity of Georgia like he did, just like he lost Arizona by attacking McCain. If the Republican Party wants any salvation, they must dump Trump.

I actually doubt that he will remain as powerful and as much as a king maker. His influence will only fade from now on (he'll also get entangled in law suits). These spineless Republicans shouldn't be fearing him and making a fool of themselves.

I wonder if Mitch McConnel and all Republican senators had said publicly on day one after 11/3 "drop the whining and the baseless conspiracy theories, Mr. President, you lost fair and square, get over it and don't be a sore loser; now let's win the two seats in Georgia to provide checks and balances to President-Elect Biden's administration" he'd still be the Majority Senate Leader. Teaches him right.

Should the Democrats take the Senate, given the ever increasing levels of constructive bipartisanship in the last 12yrs...I can clipper me a mohawk, dye it green and have a go at the Mad Max lifestyle while I last. :rock_slayer:

None of that was the problem with the GOP strategy. Polls showed that people in Georgia prioritized the $2000 relief checks. GOP candidates kept running on "Don't vote for Socialists" and DNC candidates were running on "Vote for us and we'll deliver the $2000 relief".

Mitch McConnell blew it when he said we were so close to having the economy open that people didn't need much Covid relief.

He's no longer Cocaine Mitch. He's now Coke Zero Mitch.

And once again a US election results in unbelievable numbers. I'm supposed to believe that these 4 crackpots drew out 75% of their state in an off election?

Do you have a crystal ball with the ability to read the minds of each Georgian voter? Because to say "none of that" was important... Because as much as the $2,000 may have been important, remember, Trump had already lost the general election there, signaling a shift to purple/blue. With his despicable actions he most likely only aggravated the irritation Georgians had against him. There is no ONE single issue that decides the election. Trump definitely must have been a factor in this Democratic Party win in Georgia.

Are you suggesting turnout was unrealistically high? If so, I would disagree. This was more than just a Senate race. It actually amounted to control of the entire country, as having Dems in these two seats makes the U.S. a one-party state for the next two years at least. No counterbalance to slow down the craziness and high-expense of left wing policies.

Exit polls are indicating the $2000 was instrumental. No crystal ball needed.

Trump was pushing to get more money out and into the hands of the people. Pelosi was refusing before the general election, but it was Mitch who held up the $2000 before this runoff race. Fatal tactical error.

    And so, we have this:

I wish I knew how you could be so certain of which party/leader(s) tanked our economy.

Although I've dumped a lot of what I learned in micro and macroeconomics, I do remember my mindset during those classes: discover any economic tricks that the elites (or perhaps exclusively Democrats or Republicans) use to screw the common citizens.

What I remember thinking at the end of those classes is that I couldn't pinpoint a culprit responsible for the overall state of the economy right now...or at any point in history. This is because the economy is complex; the decisions made 10 years ago could just now be impacting the economy. It's difficult to pinpoint responsibility for the overall system because some of the decisions that made today's economy, like trade deals and environment laws ws, were made by different people than the people making decisions on issues that more immediately change the course of the economy, like interest rate changes or bailouts other more immediate impacting laws.

So again, good on you for figuring out a specific group responsible; I've spent my adult life and failed.

Odd, it's the right wing that runs up debt faster with their borrow and spend policies.

Not true. The House of Representatives controls the purse strings. No budget gets passed without the Speaker of the House's blessing.

This country went nuts on spending for the last 70 years of the 20th Century, starting with Socialist programs during the Great Depression. You can't roll back more than half a century of excesses in a decade. Now we're left printing fiat money just to pay the interest so we don't look like the failed economic country we have become.

I realize how crucial the election is, I just don't think 75% of my fellow citizens do. This is because I'm the type of person who has no qualms asking a complete stranger in the checkout line who controls the US Congress. And if my life depended on an accurate answer, I would say between 30-40% of my fellow citizens know who currently controls Congress.

Therefore I discount that as a reason to draw out 75% of my fellow citizens.
