Ashli Babbit died as a direct result of the riot, and none of the participants are being charged with felony murder either. Often crimes go uncharged.

No one was trying to overthrow anything. A Serious attempt at overthrow would take multiple attacks on Command and Control centers, military installations, communications centers, and the whole infrastructure of the US government. I absolutely see how that would be moving the goalposts to you, but the past few years I've seen "reported" absolutely ridiculous things that were totally false, such as Trump saying Nazi's were fine people. He never said that, but there is a lot of reporting on it.

I'm interested in what's true, not simply propaganda, and if there is going to be reporting in January that rioters were going to assassinate Congressmen and Senators, you would think, 9 months later, there would be some actual charges to that effect.

Really? They broke into the Capitol Building, erect a gallows out front, vandalize legislator's offices and compromise the security of classified documents all in attempt to overturn the results of a legitimate election, and you say there was no threat. What they did amounted to a tempest in a teapot in the end, not because of their intent,but because they lacked the courage of their convictions and stopped short of their goal when confronted with determined opposition. As soon as the National guard showed up, they were done.

Conclusion:Trumpists are no real threat to national security. That was my original point . My mistake was saying they were a greater threat than Antifa or BLM. None of these people are a national threat.

 

A REAL insurrection would be characterized by efforts to control communications, isolate the National Command Authority, incapacitate the President, issue orders establishing a new government, etc. None of that happened. Erecting a gallows has no more impact than spray painting grafitti on Nancy Pelosi's car.
