Indicting and convicting him on a minor business reporting violation misdemeanor on which the statute of limitations ran out years ago and for which the DOJ and FEC investigated and found no crime? What if this is a case of prosecutor political abuse of power? Is your desire to get the rich and powerful so great you would toss due process and equal protection under the law?

He didn't mention those countries. Go back to his point and try again.

    I see.

According to the OP he is being charged with fraud related to his business. I am not sure what this blather about the FEC and election laws have to do with anything.

I doubt you know the details of the sealed indictment well enough to know if they have a case or not. The court and jury will figure it out.

Sure. But then Congress can impeach and remove so the prosecution could begin. Let's not forget Bill Clinton plea bargain crimainl charges as he left office as the independent prosecutor informed him he was prepared to indict him of several felonies. Everyone is making out like Trump is the first to ever face a criminal prosecution.

well if the "statute of limitations ran out years ago.", then Trump has nothing to worry about, but did it run out?

They don't care. I'd like to make excuses for my fellow Americans. Ignorance, mental issues, blind partisanship before the good of the country, etc. I am convinced that they simply ONLY care about keeping and obtaining power. They live in the moment and can't think beyond their own nutty noses. Hate is fueling their fire. It's as simple as that.

    Sandy Shanks said:
Considering the four principle criminal cases involving the former Republican President -- inciting an insurrection against our elected government, theft of hundreds of pages of classified documents, attempting to defraud the voters in Georgia, and the payment of hush money to a porn star -- clearly the last alleged criminal action was the least important and the weakest case.

Now, presumably, the case involving the porn star is over.

The media was wrong in its presumption. Trump's lawyers are shocked.

    And I was wrong.

The Post reports along with every other media source in its own fashion, "A Manhattan grand jury has voted to indict former president Donald Trump, his lawyers said on Thursday, making him the first person in U.S. history to serve as commander in chief and then be charged with a crime.

"The grand jury had been hearing evidence about hush money paid to adult film actress Stormy Daniels during Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign, allegedly to keep her from saying she’d had a sexual encounter with Trump years earlier.

"The indictment has yet to be unsealed, so the charges and specific allegations were not immediately clear, but Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg and his investigative team were probing whether Trump falsified business records connected to the payments in a way that could constitute a campaign-finance violation."

Of course, Trump plays the victim card for his gullible followers. He claims he is never responsible for what he has done.

Trump, who has long railed against law enforcement officials, particularly when it comes to investigation of his conduct, quickly issued a statement condemning the indictment. Democrats, he charged, “have lied, cheated and stolen in their obsession with trying to ‘Get Trump,’ but now they’ve done the unthinkable — indicting a completely innocent person" who paid $130,000 to keep quiet an affair he never had.

The Guardian reports, "According to the Wall Street Journal, the office of the Manhattan district attorney, Alvin Bragg, has presented the grand jury with evidence involving the former Playboy model Karen McDougal, who claims to have had an extramarital affair with Trump beginning in 2006.

"The National Enquirer, which endorsed Trump’s first presidential bid, agreed to pay McDougal $150,000 for her story about the alleged affair. But the tabloid ultimately did not publish McDougal’s account, effectively quashing the story in an industry tactic known as “catch and kill."

exactly, people had no issue with that - their Golden Cow though, they just can't stand the thought

I have no doubt that Trump will do as much time if he pleads guilty as Clinton did...

I think you've forgotten that our elections have been fortified. Biden will be fine, even if he's in a coma.

Because the statue of limitations on those business reporting charges ran out years ago and for Bragg to charge him with that minor charge he has to prove in was done in order to commit a felony crime and that would be the campaign finance charge. But that is a FEDERAL jurisdiction and the have you forgotten that the DOJ and FEC investigated the matter, Cohen was charged and prosecuted and went to jail. Trump was never charged as there was no evidence he was involved in any of Cohen's criminal acts and Cohen's own attorney testified before the grand jury last week the Cohen told them Trump had nothing to do with it and that Cohen had lied to them.

National Enquirer definitely seems like someone that Trump would work with - lol

    Did it?

Why is it anonymous folks on the internet know so much more about the law than judges, prosecutors and defense lawyers?

Private enterprise is free to do as they please within the law. You do not like freedom?
Yea, those degenerates chanting "lock her up" were so wrong.

Clinton committed felonies why should I have had a problem with it? Starr took it to Congress seeking an impeachment and removal so he could prosecute. The Dems said obstruction of justice, perjury and witness tampering in a federal civil rights lawsuit did not warrant removal from office. So the charges were held until he left office. He plea bargained the criminal charges and had already paid the $90,000 fine for the civil charges and the $900,000 payoff to Jones. So Trump is NOT the first former President to face criminal charges.

One of Mango's various lawyers (From the firm of Pennywise, McDonald, and Bozo) is reporting his arraignment is scheduled for Tuesday of next week.

Damn! Mango only missed the date by 2 weeks.... In his world of lies, that's actually pretty close... giving him some credit here...

I already made a thread about coercing private companies to restrict free speech, look it up. And I don’t think locking up political opponents needs to be proven

YOU have been demanding that his crimes be PROVEN in a court of law. And now that they WILL be, you suddenly decided that you actually didn't want that.

    What a joke!

No, he didn't...but he did suggest that countries that charged or jailed their former leaders were part of a group he describes as 'banana republics'...I wonder why he left those other countries out...??

Republicans flipped a remarkable four House seats statewide in New York never seen before
Democrats were blown out on Long Island, losing all four contests and netting the GOP two seats
The powerful New Jersey State Senate president, Steve Sweeney, lost to a truck driver who ran a shoestring campaign
Republicans claimed all three statewide offices in Virginia

For the first time in history, Democrats now have taken a political candidate, and charged him with a crime that the feds wouldn't touch and two former NY DAs would touch, trying to take a misdemeanor charge and turn it into a felony charge to stop him from running.

They did it to a sitting governor and now they are doing it to a former president who is running for office. And while you revel in your own blindness because of your hatred over one person, you now have become yet another supporter of a party who is changing this country into what they want. The ability to charge or jail anyone they fear or don't like. Destroying our 250 year old system is now hailed as a win?
To who? China, Russia, North Korea?
