Trump tells Matthews "women deserve some type of punishment for abortions"

I don't think he said you are threatening, I think he said your a moron and he doesn't bother with your nonsense.

 

It used to take me days to see through the noise of the alarming statements Trump used to make and eventually realize what he said is a true and correct statement.
It takes me now maybe just few minutes.
Abortion statement however took me maybe a couple of hours to see the reality through the panic that every TV station promoted. The panic was just too intense.

 

I think he just got lucky. He says a lot that isn't true.

 

Maybe he gets lucky too much.
Or maybe his predictive abilities are tuned the right way and he is indeed as smart as he says he is.

Can you remind me of one or two things he said that was not true?

 

He said that McCain was not a war hero.
He said that Islam hates "us".

This is what he said ... "McCain is a war hero because he was captured.
I like my war heroes who are not captured".

What he said was a true statement. He is saying there are war heroes who save their platoons, and do heroic acts.
And then there are people who are called war heroes just because they got captured.
And as you can see he never called him a non-war hero.
He just classified it.

In Koran it states that that all infidels (non-Muslims) must pay tax (for being non-Muslim) or convert to Islam or they will be put to sword.
That is Islam - so the statement that Islam hates all infidels (us) is true.

 

But it's not a game.
He says things in another way you and I might not be used to.
In essence, what he is saying has a lot of truth in it.

 

Yes but "getting captured" wasn't why McCain was a war hero. So he was incorrect. He was a war hero because he chose to fly. And not just fly, but he put himself in a position to be chosen for the most dangerous flying missions. Missions that entailed a much higher probability of being captured compared to the probability for the vast majority of other service members. If Trump wants to command the greatest military the planet as ever known, he should have understood those concepts.

But there are millions of Americans who are Muslim. So when he said, "us", he excluded those Muslims from Trump's vision of America. Those Muslims are "us". And I don't think they hate themselves. So he was incorrect.

They are not the dregs of society (or at least most). They are people who recognize that the US government has failed us in many ways. Trump knows how people feel. That's one thing he does know. If you think 2016 is bad, wait until 2020 when the candidates will be Kanye West, Jay-Z, the Rock, Phil Robertson, etc. If the establishment doesn't turn this country around in 4 years, we are in for some trouble. Trump is just a taste of what's to come.

 

I actually don't think it's a stretch so much as the logical progression from an unacceptable premise. The unacceptable premise is the idea that abortion should be banned. I don't support banning abortion. But if somebody did support banning abortion, of course there would be a punishment for it. There's no meaning behind the word "ban" if there's no consequence for doing it anyway.

Of all the things Trump has said, this is what crosses the line? Just seems like his usual anti-PC MO to me.

Yes, because he, and Sanders, are the only ones willing to state the obvious failures. It doesn't matter how smart or presidential the other candidates are if they aren't willing to tell Americans the truth: we are in trouble in many areas. Immigration/Wall Street/bureaucracy/policing/terrorism/livable wages. If the status quo continues for another 4 years, you are going to get worse than Trump on the right, and probably a full blown revolutionary communist on the left.

 

People keep saying that he's smart because he runs his father's business. All they have to do is listen to Trump speak and you quickly realize how stupid he is.

If only more people had the same luxury in life as one Donald J. Trump, the law of averages would balance themselves out and Trump would never get to the Presidency. But because of how our system is set up, this is where we are. Trump is the virus created by our money-dominated system. Thus the need to overturn Citizens United, and to finally implement Campaign Finance Reform, to allow for public funding of campaigns so that even the little guy can compete with the big boys.
