I'm afraid the weakness of your argument is betrayed by your petty ad hominem. Attack the post, not the poster - just my advice to help you avoid looking foolish or unprepared to defend your baseless assertions.

So, care to try again? Or are you just going to tuck tail and slink out of this thread now?

There is the precise attitude on display that results in the issue at hand. As I said, we get the government we deserve.

Except that we know it wouldn't. As having a wall can only help prevent illegals from coming. Making it much easier on border patrol. Nothing about that is a waste.

    You are objectively wrong.

What would make it much easier on Border Patrol would be to invite the illegals to leave. Most of them would. The stragglers who stay behind will then be much easier to apprehend and process.

The problem is that it will take a political will that I don't think we have to invite the illegals to leave as I suggest. But we could do it and it would be remarkably simple - the legal infrastructure is already in place, all we lack is leadership with the balls to do it. Your wall is a dog and pony show. It represents nothing but window dressing from a pathological liar who has no intention whatsoever of containing the invasion to which we average citizens are subjected daily.

So you are going to slink away as I predicted. Why did you come here if you're not prepared to debate and defend your positions? Wrong as they clearly are...

More than 40% of those here have come legally and then overstayed - a problem a wall simply dies not address. Plus we have our seaboard and northern border. Plus, the wall as specified would cost tens of billions in tax and debt. Plus the number of undocumented persons in the US has had essentially no growth since 2008.

So, no, i strongly doubt the wall can be justified as cost effective.

'Undocumented persons?' You obviously didn't get the memo - they are now to be called 'not lawfully present individuals.' Really rolls off the tongue, doesn't it?

Agreed, but giving Amnesty every 4 to 8 years isn't the answer either.

Are you kidding me? That's your argument? So we should allow our greed to guide our decision-making process? I'm willing to pay market value for goods and services if it means defending the rule of law. But you go ahead and enjoy your cheap lettuce while the poor are continually exploited.

If I was in Mexico, I'd doing my best to get out of that corrupt violent (*)(*)(*)(*)hole.
I don't hold ill will against folks who come here illegally, even though it is in fact illegal. Something the left tries to ignore, or distract from. According to some morons on the left, if you enforce US Laws, it's racism. How absurd.

As far as illegal immigration goes, it's not going to stop. Demorats want more undocumented democrats, and greedy (*)(*)(*)(*)ing republicans want more workers to exploit.

Might as well learn Spanish, and hope we don't end up like the utopia to the south.

It is a matter of national security and could be easily done. The US would only need to start deporting in a meaningful way and many would leave on their own. I blame the government more than the illegals. If we do not take our laws seriously then why should anyone else?

I try to view this as rationally as possible. I’d like people to think for a second. Our internal logistics and infrastructure can barely move a population of 100,000 people just out of a city when a natural disaster strikes. The idea of moving millions is massively complex.

Our law enforcement is already maxed out. To arrest 12 to 20 million people would require taxing every law enforcement agency in the US to the breaking point, agencies already feeling the pinch of the economy and especially for local law enforcement, taking away from their main duties of a peace officer. It would require the mobilization of the national guard which is just about tapped out itself. Martial law would have to be declared and regular army brought in.

To detain, let's say 15 million people would fill out every jail and prison, forcing the construction of secure “internment camps” to temporarily house these people. Once arrested and detained, we would be constitutionally required to provide each person with food, clothing and health care while await possessing.

Again by constitutional mandate, each person would get “due process” and would be allowed the full benefit of access to the US legal system. There are illegal’s here whom are married, have children, own property and have been here for generations. These situations need to be adjudicated before they are deported.

Then there is the transportation of these illegals back to their country of origin. The logistics behind humanely transporting 15 million people back are staggering. Of course, there are those whom have abandon all basic human compassion for ideological conservatism and who’d cram them all these people in box cars and ship all like cargo but I’m not one of those. I will not allow them or this government to replay the heinous “Trail Of Tears.”

Then there is cost. Anyone have any idea of what it would cost to arrest and move 15 million people? ….Trillions of tax dollars.

This idea is not an option. Besides, it violates every notion of morality, decency and liberty that this nation is SUPPOSED to stand for.

It would not need to happen over night. The problem occured over time and would take time to fix.A comprehensive approach would not be as expensive as it seems. The idea that it is just "too difficult" or "too expensive" is propaganda put out by proamnesty folks.

Truth is it is very possible. I believe a president should grow a pair and declare martial law. Illegal aliens should be considered foreign invaders and the military should be mobilized to take care of the deportations. It takes the will to do the right thing. The real problem is too much money is behind supporting illegal aliens as cheap labor.

And national security does not violate any phony notions you mention.

Truth is, your opinion carries no more weight than mine. The reason no rational person in authority has seriously suggested your idea is that it will not work...slow or fast. As I lack the motivation to actually back my opinion with verifiable facts at this moment, I'll let it rest, for now.

You cannot back your opinion because you are wrong and you know it. Any argument for not enforcing the law is nothing more than pro amnesty propaganda.

A good example is border security recently. I have said for a while it is possible. The country TER argument was simply "it is not possible". Along comes Trump and pushes the idea of a wall and takes it to another level of saying Mexico will pay for it. Suddenly the argument is who will pay for it not if it is possible. We know it is possible. It is a false argument and silly to say it isn't.

    Same with deporting illegals.

Read these two articles. One from the WSJ (conservative), the other from ThinkProgress (liberal). Both say exactly the same thing I said and come out with the same cost estimate as mine: 1 trillion dollars.

Again, propaganda. Articles are written all the time in order to justify cheap, illegal labor for the wealthy. This is no surprise to me. Back in the slave days there were plenty of so called scientific arguments as to why blacks were inferior to whites.....again, propaganda.

These phony arguments do not work anymore. Simply saying it will not work and then throwing up inflated numbers is not an argument worth considering.

Since when do we let cost stop us from doing something? How many people argued against space travel because it was pricey? What about the Iraq war? I would say it was pricey.

And the bleeding hearts are even more ridiculous. There are plenty of worse actions and inactions that are more cruel than sending someone home.

How so? Perhaps you do not like that I have pointed out the phony arguments? Take a look at your sources. The Wall Street Journal....do you expect Wall Street to argue against cheap labor for the wealthy? And ThinkProgress.....do you expect a lefty source to argue against more people who will likely vote democrat?

These are the same forces arguing for illegal immigration that argued for slavery. Money and political power. Think about it.
