Trump could say it's raining. The left bemoans the fact, saying we have had too much rain, the right says we need more, and the truth is we need it on the West Coast and not on the East Coast.

As repulsive to Americans as Trump is, I plan to watch his address. This is history unfolding. Every utterance evidence of corruption/ deceit. May as well savor every minute the traitor gets closer to prison.

 

No, I gave up on watching the SOTU sometime during the Obama administration.

That said, I don't think constitutionally she had the power to block the SOTU. The Constitution gives the President the power to summon the Congress to speak at it.

Thanks for starting this thread. No I am not going to watch this loser get up there and claim any kind of victory about border security.

The only things he has done that really impressed me was getting two decent people on the Supreme Court. That's it. He completely blew this big fight over border security and was made to look like a helpless child.

The necessary and proper clause of the constitution allows Congress to make all.laws necessary to carry out its constitutional duties. These laws include how Congress is run, who can speak how votes are conducted....etc. the president does not have the constitutional authority to tell Congress how it is run

i never watch speeches. i read the transcripts, i read the commentary and i try to avoid the more inflammatory reactions, both pro and con. all that allows me to ignore the emotional garbage that comes with voice inflection, physical cues and unnecessary verbosity. i want facts, not feel good political sound-bites or meandering partisan critiques. i want information, not drama.

 

It is thought now that Trump may use the SOTU address to announce a declaration of National Emergency. It has already been announced that he's sending thousands more military personnel to our southern border, and, evidently there's one 'caravan' after another of varying numbers of thousands heading north up through Mexico. Does anyone think these 'migrants' are on their way to the North Pole....

I also heard on radio this morning (by no means assumed to be completely accurate) that more than a MILLION refugees will be pouring out of Venezuela -- where ever they go, they'll create destabilization, probably resulting in even MORE 'caravans' headed north....

Oh, the very latest 'buzz' making the rounds is that Trump will not (NOT) declare a National Emergency after all! That almost certainly also means that he will not seal the border shut, thus forcing the Mexicans to fix the problems on their side of the border (where it originates). If both of those things turn out to be true, he might as well 'hang it up' and just go away... he'll be finished. No matter what else he says, at the end of his speech he'll be wandering off-stage like 'Little Boy Lost', with Nancy Pelosi's dildo up his butt....
