    I agree, although the priceless religious artifacts and art cannot be replaced. To think of those magnificent stained glass windows melting is heart breaking.

    So news that's breaking over here in the US, probably well known to French citizens and residents, is that there have been up to 10 catholic churches vandalized in france over the last few weeks. Can anyone confirm?

    A sprinkler system is the best kind of protection against this sort of thing, and Louvre has one. As a matter of fact a faulty sprinkler almost damaged Mona Lisa once.

    We've had a bunch of churches burnt here in US, and one guy has been arrested for burning three of them.

    Notre Dame seems to be accidental though.

    depends on who and why, I would probably have more sympathy for a child all grown up that had been abused by the church, then if it was a Muslim doing it out of religious fanaticism

    that said, thus far it looks like may of just been a accident, way too early to speculate

    it's been restored many times, it will be restored again, this is a huge tourist attraction and religious icon to many, they would be stupid not to restore it

    Unbelievable . I have some blissful memories of notre dame... I feel this is a tragedy of the scale of 911, its so sad for me

    A big part of Europe's history up in flames, gone.

    The cathedral will likely be replaced with a mosque.

    Yes, I am familiar with the concept of painting the many with the sins of the few. Course it doesn't work with white racists who shoot up mosques and schools. They are just sick puppies and not at all representative.

    Racists always use double standards to justify their hatred.
