The only thing that is puzzling is that the fire started in two place. I don't think the Muslims would have done it though since it is a major cathedral and converting it into a mosque would be more symbolic. The person in charge of the renovation said that as far as he knows the stained glass windows weren't damaged, nor was the organ.

Someone was asked if the Vatican would pay for the repairs, and the answer was "money goes into the Vatican, not out".

if they use the space, I do not see why they would not

if they don't want too, I suppose they could make it a Notre-Dame theme park instead or something

That seems a rush to judgement. These investigations usually take much longer, especially in a structure that size and while there are still embers.. It's like the immediate 'lone wolf' theory,

What upsets me much more than the fire itself is this mad habit of quoting celebrities.

The BBC: President Emmanuel Macron called it a "terrible tragedy".

And there are the frequent quotes of leaders during almost any event "expressing concern".

It is irritating and means nothing at all. What is it supposed to mean? Is it meant to set the tone for what I should think? I am fully in touch with my own emotions and I don't need assistance from others.

The BBC said this morning that due to the work going on in it a lot of the paintings and other things had been removed. Not sure if that was there hope or true.

Macron's one of 'I am sad to see this part of us burn' was better than the 'terrible tragedy' but yes, a way of trying to bring people together particularly with the on going yellow vest protests which he was saved speaking about by the fire.

Good point. Makes one wonder if the blaze wasn't set by him.
