I never thought Mayor Pete would drop out this early, in fact, being gay, I thought the left would support him because it would be historic.

So here's the thing; when the black candidates drop out it's because the country is racist. When Harris dropped out it was because the country is sexist. Will Mayor Pete call the country homophobic? Keep in mind that, when these people call the country racists, sexists and possibly homophobic, they're not referring to conservatives would would never vote for them because they're democrats. Who does that leave?

What a wuss, a few short days and he would have known exactly where he stood. I'd never support a coward like that for president...

Does anyone know what he stands for? All I know is he's gay. That it is. All I know about the other candidates are that they want to give free stuffs.

    Implode DNC...implode!

I'm not voting for any of them but he or Amy would have been my choice if I were.

I think that all this was in order to position him for a meaningful presidential run in 2024. He will be considered a seasoned campaigner next time . . . even if he hasn't gained even one iota more by way of meaningful experience in government or management or leadership.

There is still a deep strain of homophobia in this country, and it runs through both parties. It was only a few years ago that gays got the right to marry. I'm surprised Pete got as far as he did.

But let me ask you: how far would an openly gay Republican have gotten in a GOP presidential primary? Right. Absolutely nowhere.

Anyway, this helps Biden. I doubt Pete's voters go to Bernie. He seems stuck around 35%.

Activism might have been motive...or when he had that 9 year old "coming out" on his stage, the powers that be might have said enough is enough.

He's smarter than I thought, he's always tried to bill himself as one of the "sane and moderate" Democrats who is no fan of Sanders and his radical policies. He knows he can't win but he doesn't want to take votes away from Biden it seems.

I respect the guy for that for believing that the party is more important than his own selfishness. Pulling out before Super Tuesday removes him from the pool of moderate Dems and basically shifts his supporters towards Biden most likely.

Klobuchar needs to do the same thing if she cares as much about her message and she claims she does. All these folks are doing is just taking votes away from Biden by sticking around. Biden, Pete, and Amy are all basically the same person anyway. If they truly believe in their message then they will get out of the way of the only 1 of the 3 of them who has an actual chance at getting the nomination before the voting date that virtually seals the deal.

He was the "sensible" moderate who thought that people would see that Biden is senile and they'd go for him instead. Unfortunately, Bloomberg stepped in to purchase the "reasonable moderate without the Alzheimer's" position....leaving Buttigieg with no brand identity.

He did what was good for party consolidation instead of good for himself. Kudos to him for that.

Did they really? Well, that's a start, but I predict it's a long time before an openly gay candidate gets any traction in the GOP.
