A prosecutor should charge 1st degree and all lesser included offenses (including homicide and negligent homicide). If you can't prove 1st, 2nd. If not 2nd, man slaughter. Etc.

The process includes an investigation component. Supposed during discovery, they find an email to the Defendant reading, "This guy hasn't been paying his graft money. Take him out and make an example of him."? Would that change what the Defendant ends up being convicted for? Suppose we find the guy had a fatal stroke unrelated to the cop on his neck. (Fantastically unlikely) The cop may get charged with something but not found guilty of the homicide. And everything in between.

Yes, the police parking lot houses NEEDED squad cars and some have weapons in them....a liquor store isn't quite that "necessary" to defend.

I don't think he snapped .. I think he is just an ******.

Nor do I think he deliberately killed the fellow- the act of kneeling on the guys neck - for 8 minutes - was 100% a deliberate act though. There was no reason to be kneeling on the guys neck - as it turns out - with his full weight -as noted by a commentator on "Hannity".

Hannity - the consumate cop Apologist who can barely manage to finish a sentence without glorifying the police - pronounced this guy guilty based on the video ... no investigation required.

This was a dumb act - but my bet is that this control freak does intentionally dumb -and rather nasty things - on a regular basis - he was enjoying inflicting pain and suffering on another human - a little too much - a lot too much as it turned out.

"I didn't mean to kill him by putting my knee on his neck and ignoring plea's that he could not breathe"

The person previous had said he believed it was second degree. I don't see it in that statute, do you?

I have posted the 3rd previously and noting it requires a "depraved mind" without regard to life. Now after watching the video several times as I noted in previous post he is certainly trying to inflict pain and suffering, doing so purposely I would say. Does that meet the "depraved mind" standard for 3rd degree, did he know he could possibly kill even though not intentional? That is what the prosecution will have to prove else it will be a manslaughter.

Yup, cities need equipped police force...or the store owners have no protection...

The police did NOT abandon store owners, they did what they could but had to protect their house, too.

Yes and condemnations are coming from all sides because he was already cuffed and once on the ground compliant.

    Manslaughter or murder we'll see.

I imagine the body cam footage will be released, I am curious about the other videos and why we haven't seen more of the before and after what they show especially from the point he drops to the ground at eh police car which then suddenly ends and then the point we see in the video with the officer already with his knee on the neck.

No, being armed and peaceful is the norm for armed citizens including police and soldiers.

The Mayor, city council and the Chief of Police are ultimately responsible for how the PD functions.

The mayor has had a day to think about it. Today he led off the press conference by blaming the death of Floyd and the riot conflicts on a 400 year history of discrimination (not one bad cop and a bunch of looters). Really, today's speech by the mayor is a good attempt to unify a largely Democrat city in the dog whistle lingo that Democrats need to hear right now. Promises for action and change.

Press conference starts at about 11:30 minute.

Yes, they are. Mayors hire and fire Chiefs of Police who are responsible for police training and actions.

Facts are inconvenient for liberals. Notice how Maxine Waters is already blaming Trump. In the eyes of liberals Trump is an all powerful deity.

I bet the pawn shop had weapons in it too, but they arrested the owner for defending it.

Here is my book: Riot Stopping 101.

    1. Read the riot act, and wait 4 minutes.
    2. Spray remaining rioters with unique indelible marker dye.
    3. Arrest and charge as many rioters as can be caught in the act.
    4. Arrest more as they are eventually observed with the dye on them.
    5. Cane the rioters. One stroke for 1st offense.

There will be few second offenders.

Independent local Sheriffs elected by the people they serve would be able to organize far more effective ways to provide law enforcement and justice.
