Last years seasonally elevated deaths from respiratory viruses leading to MI, CHF, Stroke, PE, secondary pneumonias, aspiration pneumonia, hospital acquired pneumonia, renal failure and a host of other complications, were labeled as being caused by the terminal event, not the precipitating virus.

This year the normal seasonally elevated deaths are being labeled by the preciptating virus, not the terminal event.

This year the deaths are being labeled by the precipitating respiratory virus, while last year they were being labeled by the terminal event, MI, CHF, PE, aspiration, hospital acquired pneumania, sepsis, renal failure, stroke etc.

I notice that Biden will ask for one hundred days with a mask on day one. He is predicting that this will result a drastic reduction in new infections. One hundred days will take us to about the first of May 2021. By that time a large proportion of the population will have been vaccinated. I wonder if his prediction might be more based on the likelihood of vaccines having a major affect than the masks. And people wonder why we do not trust him. He could at least give credit where credit is due.

 

Nobody is against mourning the victims of 9/11. However, the right could start by at least acknowledging the covid victims, instead of claiming "they would have died anyway", or viewing them as an obstacle to the magic trump economy. Maybe, just maybe, a future day of mourning for the covid victims could be in order? Or would that interfere with trump getting his face on Mount Rushmore as the greatest president ever in the whole universe?

 

Why would you not trust him? What he is asking people to do is exactly the right thing: Mass vaccination will occur in 3-4 months. Until then, people have to act responsibly and take minor sacrifices to prevent mass casualties. After mass vaccination, hopefully everyone can go back to not wearing masks and partying like it was 1999. What's wrong with that?

 

He is only giving credit to wearing a mask. I am all in favor of wearing masks. However, the bigger effect will be due to the vaccination, even if people suddenly start wearing masks. He could at least word it something to the effect that if we all wear masks and with the Warp Speed vaccinations, we could have this whipped by mid 2021.

By the way, people will not suddenly start wearing masks unless law enforcement makes them do it and that is not going to happen.

He is setting himself up to say he whipped this by wearing masks.

 

This time I heard it on HLN, he talked about the masks in addition to the vaccines.

Many nations have suffered mass Covid deaths. The UK and Spain and Italy have endured more deaths per capita than the US. Also consider obesity is linked to Covid fatalities, and the US has a very high obesity rate.

So far no luck. After masks, social distancing, and shutdowns we have another round anyway. There is zero science for all the limitations.

 

Of course! And, as such, it wouldn't work with Trump because he's a psychopath with no capability to feel empathy. But to normal people empathy is a big consideration in the way they act and think. I hope realizing what I say in the OP might rattle some of them to wake up a few of them.

What nonsense. First of all, they also mishandled the epidemic. And I have no right to vote in the UK or Spain. But our mishandling is worse because we had enormously more resources and we were in a much better position to mitigate it. If this administration would even try. Even if they started trying now.

But they won't. Trump just wants to whine about losing the elections and play golf.

As for obesity, there is little a President can do to ameliorate obesity (and Trump wouldn't do it anyway if there was). There is a lot they can do to mitigate a pandemic. And Trump just lied, whined and played golf.

As for the rest... praising Trump for ONCE doing his job and not interfering with the development of the vaccine (as he has done with just about every other effort to mitigate it) is absolutely idiotic. But it's the one and only thing Trump cares about. Praising him is the only way to manipulate him into doing something good (or bad) for the country. Otherwise... who knows what he'd be doing. Maybe importing vaccines from Russia.

 

Trump fanatics and Antifa idiots and college kids have ignored face masks and social distancing since April. We had a window of opportunity and the idiots on
both sides pissed it away. There is no way you can say measures didn't work when so many dick-heads ignored the measures.
