Doctors have know that masks don't stop viruses at least since 1947.

~ When this entire mask fiasco began I did some checking ‐ oldest study I found was back in the 1960's with school children. The most recent was about 2 years ago also with school children — by none other than our own illustrious CDC.
NO significant difference in reducing infection, but an increase in sinus and bronchial irritation/infections. CDC concluded cross ventilation with open windows was the best preventative.

All of the people in industry like painters and welders and people who work with toxic chemicals and have worn masks all day for decades, must all be dead already.

If you wear a mask, it gets moist. That moisture comes from moisture in your breath that carries the virus. You can weigh it! So it is impossible that transmission is not reduced. Now it may not prevent transmission [esp depending on the mask and how it is worn] but it most certainly reduces the load. And that reduces the exposure other people receive. This isn't complicated.

They may get sick but not as sick due to exposure to you. By wearing the mask you can reduce the viral load they receive.

One study evaluated the use of masks among pilgrims from Australia during the Hajj pilgrimage and reported no major difference in the risk for laboratory-confirmed influenza virus infection in the control or mask group (33). Two studies in university settings assessed the effectiveness of face masks for primary protection by monitoring the incidence of laboratory-confirmed influenza among student hall residents for 5 months (9,10). The overall reduction in ILI or laboratory-confirmed influenza cases in the face mask group was not significant in either studies (9,10).”

Experiments have shown that the masks are great at catching bacteria, fungi and other pathogens and holding them close to your face. They are also effective at blocking the airway and causing hypoxia and hypercapnia.

And of course they are a great way to demonstrate one is being submissive and following the herd.
