There is a ton of statistical info showing that black people get longer sentences for similar crimes, are less likely to get parole for similar crimes, are more likely to be tried as adults for similar crimes, and are more likely to be shown innocent when DNA evidence is later introduced.

Start here if you want to learn:

I feel zero need to 'dispel your impression'. It's not clear to me why you think this is all about you. A poor kid got shot!

We'll know when all the facts are in, but I suspect we are going to find that the cop was scared out of his mind and poorly trained.

Why you think, that I think, this is "all about you (me)," is beyond me, and I think something, you would have a hard time, explaining to any of us. You had, in your last post, made assertions about me, personally, based on your erroneous reading of a small snippet out of my post, you were answering. FYI, this made it you, who was making the thread about me.

My correcting your false allegations, about me, is not my making the thread, about myself. Nor is it me, making the thread, about you. Everything in this post, to this point, is only here because, once again you have brought me, falsely, into your reply, by saying, "It's not clear to me why you think this is all about you"-- without, however, citing how I am, supposedly, doing so.

If you want to compare full context quotes, between us, to see which one of us has been more sympathetic to that "poor kid (who) got shot," and which of us has been more supportive of the officer who'd shot him, I welcome you, to come out & do so, directly, instead of casting your unfounded aspersions, in my direction.

Again, while trying to depict my take on events as somehow very different from your own, I have already made similar suggestions--

Well the family has called for it, as well. So, whenever the police decide to release it, we will see, for sure. But I still do not see any rational explanation, possible, here, other than a gross overreaction by someone who should probably have not been wearing a police badge, in the first place.
    <End Quote>

The only difference, is that you are adding your own explanations for the officer's uncontrolled fear, as "poor training." If you cannot show that this training was
non-standard, then your implication that this is nothing systemic, obviously, would directly contradict the very fact, that would be supporting the idea of a systemic problem, if this officer's training could be considered "normal." As you provided no evidence about his training, you have no basis for your speculation.

Now I have also opined, that it would be hard to believe there had not been deviations from protocol, leading to this very unfortunate, and unnecessary, result. But rather than arbitrarily attribute it to some deficit in this one officer's training, I am speculating along the lines of common sense: that the officer's rash action, and poor logistics, indicating a surfeit of anxiousness, on his part, could well be due to an
irrationally enlarged sense of imminent threat posed, around any black people, he encounters on the job-- his own being black, notwithstanding. This, I would contend, is part of the discriminatory mindset, widespread among law enforcement, regarding blacks & other minorities. Yet, as I have also made clear, I was not trying to say that any single, simple explanation, would fully explain this incident, which thankfully had not been more tragic. The same, of course, would apply, if we are talking about police departments, on the whole. I am quite willing to discuss these things with you but, thus far, your prime focus has appeared to be the faults, you perceive, in my own attitude-- though you have not shown evidence of these, and despite the close similarities between your own remarks, and the comments I have made, earlier in the thread.

Well, the family has filed a federal lawsuit alleging , among other things, gross negligence and failing to properly train their officers .

Federal, because they stand a better chance of getting a fair deal as opposed to a state case with a bunch of good ole boys on the jury.

The Best of luck to them.

Here we have nice young man, saw him on TV, what a great person, unlawfully shot, and look at how many self-referentials you have in your post. It's shot through with I, Me, My, even your online name. And it's so long! It just goes on and on and on, seemingly forever. See if you can condense it down to what you could write out on a post it note, and then get back to me on it.

The dishonesty of your post, gives me no reason to reply-- except to tell you in advance, the reason you should not expect more of my replies.

Yes they absolutely do exist in greater numbers by a considerable margin. Astounding you aren’t aware of that.

Poor whites do not see the numbers of violence that poor blacks do. This directly indicates poverty isn’t the Main cause.

No new information. One of the earlier posters, stated the policy of the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation (MBI), that they review the incidents, in police shootings, and hold on to body cam footage, until their investigation is complete. My article, below, only confirms that the standard practice is for MBI to get the video, and to investigate. The withholding the release of that video, until the end of the investigation, seems it may be the call of this particular head investigator.*

As it would appear, though, that they are done interviewing the family, if they even have interviewed them-- could you imagine, if they just haven't gotten to that, yet?-- and have presumably in all this time, been able to both interview the officer, and review the video, one must wonder what should be left to do, to complete their investigation?

The other bit of news, another poster also already contributed, is that the family plans a federal suit. My article does not give details, but the thread contributor had said that it was over police training.

I've also read or seen somewhere, that the officer has been put on leave, but it did not specify, whether or not it was paid leave. Here is a local outfit, MPB News, from just 16 hours ago:

    https://www.mpbonline.org/blogs/news/family-of-11yearold-shot-by-police-demand-action/

    <Snip>
Outside Indianola City Hall, the mother of Aderrien Murry, was flanked by supporters holding signs that read and "Release Bodycam Footage."

"He told me to get him justice. Those were his words."

As Nakayla Murry tells it, she asked her son to
call police because of an intruder in their home. By the time the officers arrived, the intruder had left. One officer yelled for anyone else in the house to come out. That's when the 11-year-old was shot.

Attorney Carlos Moore is representing Murry and his family.

“What we do know is he obeyed the officer's command. He came out of his room with nothing in his hands and was shot," Moore explains. " He was not a threat to anyone. He was just obeying the command."

Aderrien Murry was hospitalized five days for a collapsed lung, lacerated liver and fractured ribs as a result of the gunshot wound. He had a lot of questions Moore says.

"He keeps asking over and over why the officer did this. What did he do wrong? And I keep telling him, his mother tell him he did nothing wrong. And we don't know why. We've asked the city why. The city hasn't told us why; the officer hasn't told us why."

Moore says he and the family have three demands:
termination of Sergeant Greg Capers, who fired the shot.
They also want a criminal prosecution and immediate release of the body cam footage.

*The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation has the video and is reviewing the incident, which standard policy for most police-involved shootings in the state. Moore says the lead agent told him they won't release the tape until the investigation is complete.

"That's not acceptable to the family. We need to answer sooner than later. This young boy and his family are traumatized and they need answers sooner than later."

Moore says he plans to file a suit in federal court on Tuesday.

One of the most staggering stats regarding black people is the 13/51 stat. In America, 13% of the population is black and commit 51% percent of the murders. In London, 13% of the population is black and commit 51% percent of the murders. The difference is the choice of murder weapon.

What you stated above does not comport with reality. The most dangerous places in Milwaukee are all black. No exceptions. These places are suicidal to walk in and problematic to even drive through. If black criminals were locked up and not on the street, these neighborhoods would be perfectly safe to visit. That is not the case. In white communities, the criminals ARE locked up and not on the street and they are perfectly safe. Until black communities are as safe as white communities, no amount of studies indicating that blacks are overincarcerated are valid. The proof is in the pudding.

That stat does nothing to address the stats I've already provided. It doesn't even come close. The vapid denial is in the pudding.

Unfortunately. It’s not equal in any area. Blacks are a statistical anomaly.
