17-year-old Antwon Rose was fleeing and unarmed when police in East Pittsburgh shot him

Now this young man shouldn't have tried running away, but how in the hell do you shoot someone in the back who is running away from you.

I know we are going to hear they thought he was running to get a gun and a million other excuses.

I will bet the farm these officers will walk away scott free, that is even if it goes to trial.

 

The guy was probably armed.

He was just involved in a shooting so the cops can't really let a guy go like that.

And yes, if they suspect you were in a shooting and you run then you will more than likely get shot.

If he was actually innocent why did he flee right away?

And unless the cops are in danger, shooting someone in the back at that distance is murder.

When I was in California there was a huge story about a criminal who had just shot some home owners and the cops were chasing him through backyards. The guy was about to hop a fence and onto a property where the lights were on because the people were home. The cops then filled him full of lead, but he was still alive. The cops were cleared of all wrong doing because the criminal had already shown to be deadly violent and it could have been worse it he made it into the house where more people were. However, a lawyer who specializes in suing cops sued them and won, worse still, when the City of Riverside went to pay the settlement, this same lawyer sued again saying taxpayer money shouldn't be used and made the cops pay it out of their own pockets. The moral of the story then became to never fill a guy full of lead and let him live.

 

YES. He shot a man in the back who was running AWAY from him. There was absolutely no threat to the officer, and the officer did not know if he was armed or not. Deadly force is not justified in that situation.

 

As I type, We don't know much. We don't know what the officer saw or his reasoning. What i do know is that just because you're running away doesn't mean you're aren't a threat. He could run into bystanders and take them hostage or run to an ambush point and jump the cops as they run by. If you're suspected of committing a forcible felony, especially with a lethal weapon, it doesn't matter if you're running away or not.

Again, there are WAYYYYY to many unknowns, along with the fact that he wasn't a direct threat to the officer, for the officer to use deadly force.

 

What it looks like is thugs were out banging, shot a guy, got spotted, couldn't kill the cops so had to run.

If that's the case then letting them escape would be a direct threat to society.

You have made assumptions based on nothing, and a young man is dead. Are you willing to take that chance with your son/daughter ? Because if we keep letting this happen, its gunna start happening in suburbia also.

He wasn't involved in anything. The police spoke to the driver of the car and let him go. The person who ran away probably was worried about some minor crime, like having drugs on him. Who knows? The police didn't know and had absolutely no evidence he was involved in any shooting.

 

Shot in the back 3 times. That constitutes murder.

 

no just stupid. As I explained countless times before...millions of blacks make it through their lives without ever being shot or harrassed by police. How could that be if Im wrong and youre right? It cant. Math is math.

 

I think generally it's only if you're black. But, heh, black lives don't matter.

There was a shooting in a ghetto area, police spot a car that fled the scene, during the stop two of the people jump out, cop doesn't know what they're doing, <something happens>, kid is shot, cops find guns in the car.

I made my assumptions based on that.
