175 former security officials join criticism of Trump, as he taunts former CIA chief John Brennan

    https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/20...officials-join-criticism-trump-taunts-former/

More than 175 former US security officials have joined criticism of Donald Trump for revoking the security clearance of former CIA director John Brennan.

In a letter released on Monday, the former national security officials said the US president's actions represented a "political litmus test" that "weakened" the country.

"Former government officials have the right to express their unclassified views on what they see as critical national security issues without fear of being punished for doing so," they said.

New signatories to the statement, which was initially issued last week by 15 former directors and deputy chiefs of the CIA and Office of Director of National Intelligence, include former political appointees and career civil servants. They worked under both Democratic and Republican presidents.
    ............................................................................................................
It's been a bi-partisan rejection of Baby Donald's hissy fit, a move which does not serve the best interests of US national security.

I see 175 more people that need to have their clearance revoked.

Its great of them to add their names to the list for Trump.

I see another person willing to compromise national security because Don had his feelings hurt. Sadly, I've come to expect nothing less than these kinds of things from Don's adoring fans.

    That's funny.

How is limiting people access to national security compromising national security.

Liberal logic has always confounded me.

Unless they are actively using their clearance, they don't need them. They try to keep the number of people holding clearance as well as the amount of classified material to a minimum.

175 as compared to how many who did not add their name to the list. Thousands??

Willing to compromise national security? The woman you voted for setup an unsecure server in her home, and then magically "lost" 30K emails of evidence. And NOW you're whining about national security?

You know you can't be taken seriously right?

Its really pointless to be logical with those on the left.

    It just confuses them.

Wow, this is starting to look like the historical confrontation that JFK had with the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the CIA, and the FBI, about a month before JFK was assassinated, and after JFK stated he would scatter the CIA to the winds.

Are we going to let the Deep state get away with it again?

Why would national security be compromised by "former" security officers complaining?

They aren't even in the government anymore, they don't do anything for us, so why should we care?

You guys think this proves your point, but all it does is show more and more that the "Deep State" conspiracy theory actually does seem to have merit behind it.

You are actively working for the government and have earned your security clearance, it's yours until you prove otherwise or leave government service when you are required to give it up.

In this regard, correctly so. Public servants serve something. The Federal Government, or that is, The State. Insofar as they are incapable of doing this, either out of personal financial gains or out of public vendettas, then they have no right to any information that would be of use to the State or would be vulnerable or weaken the State.

Because public servants, they obviously are not. Security clearances are not a right established in the bill of rights. They were not enshrined by Congressional law. They are only seen as valuable to the State as its servants. Once they've stopped serving, they become a vulnerability to the State. All security clearances for those not in government should immediately be retracted. Insubordination is simply not tolerable. Not in military ranks, and neither in Capitol Hill.

This is not negotiable. If one wants executive privilege, one should actually run for and win the Presidency. That's what these 175 people should do.

I recommend you read the letters of protest signed by the now over 200 national security officials to find out instead of reflexively defending Don's self-centered vindictiveness.

It would be far more efficient if the common patriotic sentiment were simply assumed, and if any approved of Trump's antics, they could just make their "x"s on a pledge of fawning fealty.

Brennan does NOT need security clearance because I highly doubt that Trump is going to ask him for help. It's an ego thing for Brennan and he's a Communist. Can you tell me why Democrats were calling for Brennan's firing when he was the CIA head because of his lying, but suddenly he is wonderful? Hypocrisy much? Can you also tell me why 4,000,000 people have some form of security clearance? No wonder we have problems in the swamp...

Who cares, they chose their own personal interests over that of the country and that of even their current State department officials. Arguing that a privilege GRANTED by the government is a right, and they can use that privilege however they see fit.

If we were to take their argument seriously, then there's nothing stopping us the people from viewing classified information. But then watch them go back and argue 'well, that's different'. So this isn't an argument for transparency or for rights.

It's an argument for and by themselves. It's a blessing that these people are not a part of government. And hopefully we continue this trend in future elections, looking for Trump-minded successors. Americans who put Americans first.

Just saying it compromises security doesn't demonstrate how it compromises security.

Wondering why all these people were still holding security clearances did not start with Trump. He only brought it to the forefront.

Only in today's America is scumbaggery seen as decency, and decent government actions are seen as repulsive.

It does not matter how many or who complains, protests, yells of file complaints, Donald Trump does not care and certainly will not listen.
