I do like the Vikings as an NFC favorite. It'll be in tough competition though given the rams and eagles. Vikings do have a monster squad.

I look forward to seeing which one of these rookie QBs does the best job this year. My money's on Darnold.

Assuming each rookie plays 16 games? I think Baker plays week 4 and through the season.

I think Darnold has a HORRIBLE team and will not have a good year because of that. He's NFL ready (as they say) but the Jets are awful. Even worse now than they were end of last year.

Baker looked good too but then Tyrod’s The starter now, of course being the Browns that could change because they play in a rough division. For them they got nowhere to go but up.

I get your point on Darnold and as I think about it I’m reminded of most of the past USC quarterbacks that played in the pros.

It's not Darnold's fault. I think he'll have a bad season because of everyone he has to play with. I think the kid is really good.

Boy, this rain delay sure is taking up a lot of game time in Philly

I tuned out around halftime because I was tired. I woke up next morning to see Philly won but there were 26 penalties in the game, including one on a proper sack. WTF?!

I too turned the game off. Reminded me of the Alabama/LSU game from like 2012 that was so low scoring I wanted to throw my TV out the window.

Giants New Offensive Line Gearing For Its First Test

    https://nypost.com/2018/09/09/giants-new-offensive-line-gearing-up-for-its-first-test/

Mike Shula, the Giants’ first-year offensive coordinator, calls it “time on task,” and he admits the offensive line did not have much of it this summer.

The newly assembled five-man unit practiced together throughout training camp, but other than a handful of snaps in a few preseason games, Nate Solder, Will Hernandez, Jon Halapio, Patrick Omameh and Ereck Flowers do not have much experience working through things in live, game situations.

That is why Shula says “your question is valid’’ when asked if this might be too much, too soon for this group in Sunday’s opener against the Jaguars.

While the Jints appear to be strong in other positions, success cannot be achieved in this game without a dominant OL. I'm hoping these guys can solidify and work together as a cohesive line so that the offense can score points. Time of possession, ball control, protecting the QB, opening up runnings lanes, mobility where linemen perform a "pull" (running outside to lead the RB), are all essential for a team's success.

    GO GIANTS!

    Jacksonville > Jints 20-15

Jints lacked higher power in their offense because the OL just couldn't give Eli Manning sufficient time to set up and make a good forward pass.

Rookie RB Saquon Barkley got 106 rushing yards & a TD despite the lack of good pulling guards. WR Odell Beckham got 111 receiving yards despite the lack of more precise passing from QB Eli. With better ball control and time of possession, this could well have been a win for the Jints.

Oh well, mebbe next week against the Cowpokes in Dallas.

they went up against what I consider to be one of the two best defenses in the league. I'm surprised they allowed OBJ to get over 100 yards.

If you watched the game, you'll know what I'm talking about here.

Eli did have OBJ WIDE OPEN in the end zone after destroying two defenders. I have OBJ on my fantasy team and I wanted to throw my TV out the window.

Eli overthrew him by a mile

Jets rookie QB Sam Darnold's first forward pass is intercepted for a TD. He got 2 TD passes and 198 yards in a win over Detroit as Matt Stafford was intercepted 4 times.

    Final score 48-17.

I'm wondering if that's a problem with the Lions, or if the Jets will be a good team this year

QB Stafford got hit quite hard and I wonder if this did not cause all those INTs.

Lions 9-7 last year and have a new coach. Their draft was rated B. While they did sign a few good free agents in the off season, they also lost a number of starters to free agency ~ thus, no net loss but no real net gain in that regard.

Because of all that, I'm not sure they really strengthened themselves. Therefore, it is up to the new coaching regime to manage personnel and to develop a new strategy in order for them to win.

Stafford is a good QB. He's an interception machine, but he's also a touchdown machine. He's a gun slinger! I'm a big fan of QBs like him.

My feeling is that he just had a bad game. You're right- could have been from a hit.

It's impossible to judge a team's season after game one. Twice the Patriots got BLOWN OUT in the first game and went on to win super bowls in both those seasons.

I'm just wondering if the Jets are for real. They looked amazing on defense. But that could just be because Stafford was throwing poorly.

It’s weird how Thursday Night football games are a hit or miss when it comes to being quality games.

He was ballin out there. Honestly, shocked. They must have loved his practice sessions prior to trading Smith.

Sometimes you take a gamble and it pays off. We'll see how he trends

Giants wimped out against Cowboys 20-15

OL could not stop Cowpokes DL from steam rolling the immobile Eli Manning. Jints have good receivers but this part of their offense is neutralized by their weak line and slow footed QB.

Jints defense was good but cannot get the job done alone.

Barkley is great, but he wasn't what the Giants needed. They need people to protect Eli. With a number 2 pick, after seeing them play, they should have gone O-line.

Espn wrote an article about it this morning. I'm inclined to agree.

That said, who knows. It's only week two.

FLASH GORDON TO THE PATRIOTS! We need a receiver, BAD. It must be desperate if Coach is willing to hire a crazy man like Josh Gordon. Just need to hold out until Incredeleman gets back...
