As do both my girls; better shots than I. Both also trained in martial arts and armed with critical thinking skills.

It is a good dad. Fewer parents these days accept the responsibity to teach their children life skills and participate in character building.

Pray tell to where, precisely? What location in the united states is completely isolated from all manner of violence and crime, where the residents do not have to worry about their well being regardless of the time of day?

 

I helped champion building a successful inner city school a number of years ago to provide not only vocational training for adults but to give at risk children access to mentoring, technology, and other learning resources and activities as alternatives to street life. One strategy was to pair children with police, fire and other role models that provided both the children and the volunteers with the mutual benefits that came with that model.

 

And what of the vacuum that is left when people move to escape? What festers and grows?
It was the thinking behind the earlier comment I made about Chicago where the abandoned no go areas were left to fester to what they have become today.

 

In such a situation as is being discussed, everyone present in the immediate area is facing a direct threat of harm, by the mere presence of a perceived weapon in the possession of an individual who is threatening the well being of another. It does not matter who the weapon was brandished against, everyone faces the same risk, perceived or otherwise.

 

Not so concealed carry braggadocio.

 

In the last couple days a discussion was opened about the mother in Wisconsin, killed in a holdup because the killer didn’t like her ‘attitude’. Aside from that, there are dozens of videos from surveillance cams that have been published that show robbery suspects that simply killed people in cold blood even when offering no resistance. If someone pulls a gun to commit a felony, the risk to innocents is always there.

 

I don't spend a second on worrying about any threat from another human where I live.

 

Happy to brag on the school’s success. Should be more such efforts.
