Lots of good looking college girls walking around?

Does that mean you live in Austin?

Yes and yes. Just found out that UT is playing USC, which was the largest group of people I've ever had to wade through to get from my car to my job about 4 years ago, from the normal 10,000 to 20,000 people, all drinking, yelling "woooooo" and throwing hook 'em signs at each other. Disturbing. So glad I happen to be off today.

    Jesus.

I was stationed at Ft. Hood for a while in '66 and got to Austin a few times. Liked it a lot. There are only a few places I'd live besides here in New England. Austin is one of them, along with Santa Fe, NM, and Jackson Hole WY.

That Austin is dead and gone. :(

You would not recognize what it has become. And ridiculously expensive to live here. And a report somewhere just announced that Austin has one of the largest pay increases in the nation now there is going to be yet another influx of carpet baggers showing up.

Me and mine are looking to move to Bastrop, maybe further.

This is the conservative thought process distilled to it's very essence.

In order to be aware, one must remain worried at all times.

From my viewpoint that's what is referred to as "paranoia", and there is no shortage of it in the Republican party.

Be it foreigners, brown people, women, or gays, there is always something, or somebody, or some group, that's worrying you.

Isn't that the least bit tiring day in and day out?

Pray tell, is there something wrong with one being aware of how the world is not a nice, safe place to be?

Paranoia is present in everyone, regardless of race, gender, or political ideology. Some are simply better at it than others.

In both the united states declaration of independence, and the united states constitution, a great many rights are recognized and spoken up as being of great importance to a nation, and to the people who make up that nation. One will notice that among the various rights referred to, a right to be free from fear is not among them.

Is it tiring to not be killed in traffic by abiding by the cross signals, and looking both ways before crossing the streets?

What many do not understand is that there is nothing wrong with experiencing either worry, or paranoia. Both are healthy and important towards the survival of the species. They only become problematic when one becomes wholly consumed by such and can see nothing else.

Yes, I saw your constant worry come to the surface during the discussion about the handicapped space/parking lot shooting. From you it was all Michael Drejka could have been killed, he was assaulted, he could have bashed his head, blah, blah, blah. He didn't hit his head. He wasn't killed. He should have kept his nose out of other peoples business, and not worried about it.

Not worrying doesn't mean you aren't aware. It means your mind is a step ahead of the game. If Drejka's mind had been a step ahead he wouldn't be facing charges, and McGlockton would still be alive.

That's not what you wrote. You stated that to be aware one must be "worried".

I sometimes watch Fox News just for fun and to find out what I'm supposed to be mad at today. I just don't understand how, or why, an American in 2018 would actively choose to be that paranoid.

Well, a "pursuit of happiness" would be one devoid of fear, in my opinion.

Had McGlockton not decided to commit felony battery, he would still be alive.

Do not commit assault, do not get shot in response. It is a very simple, very basic, easily understood concept. If you do not commit harm to others, harm is not committed against yourself as a result. Pray tell, why is such a simple concept proving to be so difficult for so many in the united states to comprehend?

Probably for the same reasons you refuse to acknowledge Drejka's history of chasing people down and waving his gun around.

This jackwagon should have had his CCW revoked long before he was able to kill someone.

Some refer to it as being worried, others refer to it as being aware. Either way, it involves acknowledging the fact that there are a large number of situations surrounding an individual that can result in death if they are ignorant of their surroundings.

As opposed to what precisely? Should a compare and contrast be carried out to see how the conservative and liberal ideologies stack up against one another when it comes to the subjects of worry and paranoia? Shall we compare matters such as sexual assault committed by illegal aliens, to educators using the wrong gender pronouns when addressing students? Or perhaps honor killings committed by muslim extremists to citizenship requirements for voting in elections?

As others would have the opinion that not being killed by an easily avoidable hazard would better serve the pursuit of happiness.

You just can't get it, can you? Drejka started the ball rolling because he was looking for a fight. Well he got one, and now a man is dead, the man's children are without a father, and Drejka is facing jail time.

All Drejka had to do was notice that someone was in a handicapped spot who may not have belonged there, returned to concentrating on his task, and kept on walking into the store.

And yet he had no convictions for any wrongdoing on his record, unlike McGlockton who was a convicted felon for having previously engaged in assaulting others. At the moment the past incidents on the part of Drejka are nothing more than accusations, as no proof of such has ever been presented.

Which is not relevant to the original point. Do not commit assault, do not get shot in response. It is a very simple, very basic, easily understood concept. If you do not commit harm to others, harm is not committed against yourself as a result. Pray tell, why is such a simple concept proving to be so difficult for so many in the united states to comprehend? Why are so many in the united states subject to the belief that it is perfectly acceptable to violently lay their hands on another person simply because they are emotionally upset?

Which cannot be argued with. But what separates those thinned from the herd, from the herd itself? Why are some killed off so easily and readily when others are not?

Drejka provoked it all. The more you post to this, the more time I think Drejka should get.

That's right, McGlockton feel right into Drejka trap and is dead because of it.

It's exactly like a guerilla fighter exposing himself to the enemy, getting them to chase him, and leading them right into a minefield. That's exactly what Drejka did.

Now the theory on the part of yourself is that the individual Drejka is some sort of master strategist? He orchestrated an incident where there would be a violent confrontation executed against him, all the while knowing that he would not receive a lethal or otherwise incapacitating injury in the process before he could respond in like fashion?

You're ability to think clearly about this incident is for some reason highly limited.

As opposed to the nonsensical belief that Drejka is some sort of master strategist and knew exactly what he was doing in setting a trap?

So you didn't get the point huh? That's sad. More, it's pathetic. Of course McGlockton fell right into Drejka's trap, consciously set up or not, and it cost him his life. Yet, you pretend it's Drejka we should feel sympathy for.

First, one cannot claim that McGlockton fell into a trap, unless they are willing that admit that Drejka is not only not stupid, but is also highly intelligent, and capable of actually orchestrating complex operations that rely on specific individuals acting in a specific way that most benefit himself. For McGlockton to fall into some sort of trap, he would first need to possess a subpar level of intelligence, and lack critical thinking skills that most other adults actually possess.

Second, and perhaps more importantly. Do not commit assault, do not get shot in response. It is a very simple, very basic, easily understood concept. If you do not commit harm to others, harm is not committed against yourself as a result. Pray tell, why is such a simple concept proving to be so difficult for so many in the united states to comprehend?
