    If you know, or should know, it is illegal for an alien to be in the US and you bring them in anyway, you have committed a felony.

    Yes. And not only that, workplace enforcement -- which was a big part of the Reagan amnesty -- almost never happened. Unscrupulous employers got all the cheap, exploitable labor they could handle. Even today, in this climate, drive by a Home Depot here in California... they're out there by the hundreds. Relaxing in "lounges" built by the company. Just trying to do their part, yunno.

    WASHINGTON — The idea of separating migrant children from their mothers was discussed during the earliest days of the Trump administration as a way to deter asylum-seekers, according to notes from a closed-door DHS meeting.

    The Trump administration has repeatedly maintained that the increasing number of children being separated from their mothers at the U.S. southern border is not a policy of its own making but just a tragic byproduct of enforcing the law against illegal border crossers.

    But in the town hall two weeks after President Donald Trump's inauguration, Lafferty laid out a number of policies specifically intended to lower the number of immigrants claiming asylum.

    I'm not saying immigration officers sat around eating donuts all day. But they were severely restricted during the course of their duties. And of course, Obama changed the definition of "deportation" so he could make himself look tough on illegals.

    You appear to be having cognitive difficulty understanding the separation of these kids from their parents constitutes a NEW policy decision by Team Drumpf pertaining to people crossing the border illegally, not citizens being processed as part of the justice system.
