I'm genuinely confused by this.

 

Trump will likely have the most amazing economic recovery that the world has ever seen. Most of the world will be standing by looking on in astonishment.

With a Trump-Strong economy going into this Black Swan, plenty of liquidity and weeks of pent-up demand we will likely bounce back almost as quickly as it sank -- like a great big kid on a trampoline. We should see an amazingly strong recovery.

What made the anemic Obama recovery from the Great Recession so difficult was the zombie like nature of it. Alive in a sense, but wholly unimpressive.

Obama indulged in a flurry of lawmaking and micromanagement unseen since FDR. As a result, Obama's recovery was the slowest since FDR's. In some ways -- Washington's addictions to spending and debt are the worst examples -- we're still dealing with the hangover from Obama's reaction to the Great Recession.

Trump/Congress did a great thing in passing the bill to keep everybody whole during the period when they're asking people to not go to their jobs and not go to the shops and - and basically not participate in the economy.

Congress is following the Fifth Amendment that states that private property cannot "be taken for public use, without just compensation." If your labor isn't your property, then what is? If stopping a pandemic isn't public use, then what is? Relief checks aren't enough but they do represent at least some small amount of compensation for government orders to stay home and not work.

The Democrat-controlled House is going to have a very strong itch to hobble the economy with a progressive wish-list of crap legislation, but the GOP-held Senate and White House ought to put the kibosh on any such nonsense.

It has everything to do with it. Democrats had no idea it was even happening when Trump was already addressing it with a travel ban on China. It is democrats that keep trying to make this a political issue instead of working with Trump to fix the problem

Every economic metric has been on the exact same unchanging trend line since 2010. Nothing changed under trump, other than the nose dive it is taking due to this pandemic. It will take years to recover from. And no, I’m not blaming trump for the recession.
