It comes down to one simple question.

Does the left benefit politically from getting criminals off the streets? As of right now, they see the answer to that question as no. So nothing will be done. When they see the answer to that question as yes, then something will be done.

I think it goes deeper than the above. Of course, you are 100% correct about there being a criminal problem, but the much worse problem are those who are complicit because to do something about it wouldn't benefit their liberal politics.

What example does this set? Lululemon employees fired after chasing robbers out of store: report | Fox Business

Not acceptable but EQUAL, and much worse when Joe Biden and other Democratic politicians turn a blind eye to it.

Where did the O/P and subsequent posters minimize the problem? It's even much worse than the O/P reported. At least 51 people were shot over weekend in Chicago, and nine of the victims have died. Where's the outrage? Why doesn't Joe Biden ever mention this carnage? His pitch is always about getting a certain style of guns off the street after a mass shooting; (malls, schools, and other soft zones). Why don't the massive amounts of shootings and guns used 365 days a year in Chicago concern him? He never addresses this growing problem. Every weekend, it's same thing over and over again. Don't murdered black people matter to Joe Biden? I'll tell you why he doesn't mention them. He doesn't stand to gain by these deaths. He can't yammer on about black on black gun violence because it doesn't benefit his political agenda. Hence, the old man doesn't care about blacks killing blacks with guns. They, their guns, are not important enough for him to complain about. That has to be it because he never says a word about it.

I'm sorry that facts bother you. In Chicago, Blacks are a third of the population in Chicago but commit 80 percent of all shootings. 80% of Chicago homicide victims are black. Why doesn't this bother you that Joe Biden ignores Black gun violence in cities like Chicago? Yes, these people bleed. That's the problem and I am not minimizing anything.

Hi I’m a typical Democrat and I not only can’t think of a single way to get guns out of the hands of criminals without taking them out of the hands of everyone else, but I’d like to make drugs cheap, lawful, and plentiful while making kids dumb as rocks and making sure the criminals can hit the streets as soon as possible.

This is somehow the path to a safer world, just look at all the great examples I’ve produced in Chicago, New York and San Fran, shining beacons in my stupidity. Thank you, that is all

If I was the insurance company that they get their insurance from I'd be furious and they'd be getting a call and their premiums would be significantly going up or they'd be dropped altogether.

Imagine providing insurance for a company that supports criminal actions that would cause insurance claims to have to be paid out.....

an interesting assertion given those who want to ban guns almost always are anti cop and support lenient treatment of violent criminals

The mass shootings are a mental health issue driven more and more by a liberal cesspool of wokeness.

Chicago is crime in a liberal sanctuary for criminals/thugs. Chicago has been that for more than a hundred years.

There are drug laws that don't stop drug abuse. There are gun laws that don't stop killings. That's a people problem. You know, people that want to defund police and prosecutors who refuse to do their jobs.

You're correct. The cops hands are tied by higher-ups, like the mayor of Chicago. This kind of violent carnage, every weekend, even in all black areas of the city was not going on when I was a kid growing up in Chicago. My parents' generation didn't even have to lock their doors. Every decade since then, it gets worse. It's a war zone now.

It's almost like the Democrats in government condone it because they sure never address it. I wouldn't even step foot in the neighborhood where I lived as a very young child now. The good people who still live in these neighborhoods are totally ignored by the Democrats who are in charge of the city. The gun banning crowd couldn't care less because they know in fact that it doesn't benefit their political agenda to care.

So we dont save the life, we punish the killer ?

That makes no sense. Why do we limit the ability to drive a car to those 16yo, and those who have taken a class to learn to drive ? But when it come to a gun, we cant do anything ?

    That's how criminal law works.
The US constitution forbids the application of such a thing to firearms.

Anyone who does not qualify as a "prohibited person" can legally get a gun.
Just about everyone who qualifies as a "prohibited person" can illegally get a gun.

Violence everywhere in USA memorial weekend

    ...
Gun violence erupted across the U.S. over Memorial Day weekend: At least 20 mass shootings left 16 people dead and over 80 injured.

The Gun Violence Archive, which tracks mass shootings, logged 20 incidents in which at least four people were injured or killed, not including shooters, from Friday afternoon through Monday night.

The bloodshed started with a spree in Arizona, where a 20-year-old man was accused of killing four people and injuring one in five different shootings in the Phoenix area.

Chicago is a city in USA.
Population wise, small in terms of USA population.

There were more than 20 mass shootings over weekend. Many were not in Chicago. But blame it on black thugs anyway. Go MAGA.
