That is why I (continually) find myself stunned that people are even attempting to equate 2009 to 2020.

This COVID-19 Situation is Exponentially WORSE.

Anyone who is saying there is a major equivalency between Covid19 and H1N1 is blowing smoke, can be patted on the head, and ignored.

We will reach the death total of the previous affliction in about 1/12th time of Covid19 and it may reach ten to twenty times the total in the same time as that of H1N1.

The populist misperception of this emergency needs to be corrected firmly and to the point. The individual is not more important that the group in times of trial.

 

The problem is his lack of decisive action.
Had he shut it down quickly and across the country we would be out of the woods by now.
Instead he has managed to extend it by months by dragging his feet.
But having said that; with the screwed up testing it still might not have worked. Of course decisive action there to open it to the private sector would have solved that one too.

Our known cases continue to go up constantly, including the resultant death-count. And we're just getting started!

The only hope we have of being able to stop this virus as quickly as possible would involve a mandatory, no-bullshit, DO-NOT-MOVE quarantine for everyone in the United States, except for police and fire departments. Everybody just stays at home and does not go anywhere unless it is a life-and-death emergency! But, it won't happen....

So, the best-informed projections I've seen are those that say, IF WE'RE LUCKY, we'll see the infections being to flatten-out by the first of May, with a subsequent drop in deaths by about Memorial Day. But, if we're not lucky...? Maybe by Labor Day...?

Big difference between China and the United States: In China, they can FORCE the population to go into isolation. Over here, the commanding influence has been, and will remain, "What does this do to commerce, business, and the stock market?"
