Exactly. I live in MA and have been out of my house every day since the whole virus crap started. In fact I'll be heading out after my meeting to run errands and visit my mother to drop something off to her.

Which states? Could you provide links to these orders you speak of?

New York City was the heart of the pandemic.

we were allowed to go shopping whenever you want and get recreation whenever we want

All this talk of shelter in place and lockdown and house arrest is just ridiculous

A person under actual house arrest is allowed to go out for critical supplies.

Only a court can order a house arrest.

    Therefore it did not happen

    For example, from clickondetroit.com:
Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer issued a statewide stay-at-home order on Monday to fight the ongoing coronavirus outbreak. Effective at 12:01 am on Tuesday, March 24, 2020, for at least the next three weeks, individuals may only leave their home or place of residence under very limited circumstances.

    from msn.com:
The protest would come several days after Whitmer extended her order through April 30 and took the requirements of staying home a step further, banning crossing the street to visit with neighbors or driving to see friends, among other things.

As I suspected it's nothing but hysterical hyperbole. The updated Michigan order allowed people to go shopping and get recreation. People were allowed to go outside.

Any accusation of shelter in place or house arrest, is silly bullshit

Were all of the protesters arrested for being outside? Clearly people can still leave their homes.
"She has signed an executive order to reopen retail businesses and auto dealerships by appointment statewide on Tuesday. And effective May 29, Whitmer lifted the requirement that health care providers delay some nonessential medical, dental and veterinary procedures statewide.

The governor has also authorized small gatherings of 10 people or less as long as participants practice social distancing.

As part of her plans to gradually reopen the state, restaurants and retail stores reopened Friday in parts of Northern Michigan as well as the entire Upper Peninsula

I think you are overstating that a bit there were a lot of exceptions to staying home: work, exercise, pet care, family care (different address) get materials/supplies for remote work, volunteer work for charities that supply food, shelter, medical services, legal appointments, travel between two properties you own, travel to home owned by other family members, upkeep/maintenance of personal property or business, religious meetings that meet personal spacing requirements as well as buying supplies for the home.

its ridiculous that people are comparing this to "house arrest" or "shelter in place".

even in the most tightest restrictions people could go shopping, go for a walk, hang out in the park.

Some of those were permitted by Gov. Whitmer, some were not. The ones that were permitted are usually also permitted under official court ordered house arrest.

I take it you didn't here about the people arrested for going individually to the park or the beach, or just ambling, or going to church and attending the services from outside sitting privately in their car.

She made them rope off areas in WalMart and took it on herself to prohibit purchase of things like a garden hose and paint and seeds. If anyone cant see the overeach, they must be fans of tyranical authoritarians. Bow before her and kiss the ring, supplicant!

Or arrested for paddleboarding. Never thought I would see the day so many cheered to have their rights, trampled on. This whole thing has been useful to expose the tyrants and those who cheer it on.

The discouraging thing is that a large portion of a populace support authoritarianism even when it is applied against them, at least at first. Maybe it is a mommy-wish syndrome; some are very comfortable with being told what to do and how to live.

Why do you believe people are comfortable being told how to live? Be honest, has anyone really ever told you they prefer to just be told how to live? That they want no say whatsoever in how they live their life?

Methinks the Constitution was written to remind us which rights we should be willing to fight to the death to protect ourselves.

Neither the govt nor the const are going to actually protect us from anything at all.
