If you claim to not be a Christian your opinion of church doctrine is irrelevant. Maybe Pelosi can start impeachment proceedings against the San Fransisco Archbishop. The nonsense about "morality is objective natural law" sounds like something made up by a conservative that cannot stand ambiguity and must have everything in black and white, like abortion is murder, that's it, done. You would have Biden and Pelosi follow their churches teachings to set the standards for the nation. Good thing Islamists are not in power enforcing Sharia law, huh? 56% of Catholics think abortion should be legal. 98% of sexually active Catholic women have used contraception, do you condemn them? Morality is subjective. It changes over time and generally conservative thought doesn't like change.
I am sorry if this has already been brought up, but the US bishops tried to pull this stunt with Biden for his support of choice and Pope Francis called him a good Catholic and he should receive communion, so they shut up.
Probably about 30 to 40% of real Catholics feel this way but are just biting their tongues. They all know there is a split in the Church. "Fortunately", a lot of the more liberal factions are becoming so radical that there is just obviously no hope the rest of the Church would ever be able to reconciliate with them, so the authorities in Rome are seeing less and less of a need to try to compromise, when there would be little to be gained. The Pope almost seems to be playing politics, like President Reagan did, trying to appease everyone and maintain unity.
