The country was headed in the right direction with the exception of environmental policy, tax policy, immigration policy, healthcare policy, gun control policy, foreign affairs, divisiveness, faith in government, faith in elections, relations with allies, trade policies, etc.

Policy differences aside, wasn't what happened on Jan. 6 a disqualifier for you saying we were headed in the right direction?

I recall Trump declaring that 'The American dream is dead'. Yeah, he killed it.

For several years I've belonged to a closed Facebook group of basically what you would describe as Wall Street Republicans. In 2016 they were very skeptical towards Trump, "this guy isn't serious, he's not a real conservative, he's a plant by his friend Hillary to sabotage the GOP primaries..." These were typical comments there, although a slim majority of this group eventually ended up voting for Trump, under duress since a Hillary presidency seemed inconceivable.

Immediately after the election, your guys, the establishment, progressives, Democrats, whatever you want to call yourselves, went crazy. It was conspiracy after conspiracy; fake news altered the election, the Russians in league with their lackie Trump, fixed the American election...and on and on. It was four years plus of insane conspiracy theory and nonsense, a Mueller Report that you guys thought was going to have Trump in chains, weekly breaking news based on anonymous stories that never panned out, an impeachment based on a lie of about a Trump phone call, and on and on and on.

So now, that same Facebook group, those nice mainstream Republican types, don't believe anything the media says, they no longer assume that conservatives and liberals want the same things; they now assume the worst motives from the left, and regard the nation's institutions, but particularly the government ones, the FBI, the IC, and bureacrats in every agency as hopelessly corrupt.

So I thank President Trump for the eyeopener. It will be a different GOP in the future.

More to the point, the vast majority of Republicans, who believed in all of those institutions, no longer do. That will have an impact on the future, whether you think it's a haha moment or not.

His policies didn't get lost with me and my retirement accounts and my pocket book and my safety and they sure helped the country including minorities and were far better than Biden's previous nor where he wants to take us. Yea Pence would have been even better at the top. And not going to play what if's especially when it is a President went through what he went through starting before he even took office by the vindictive opposition and Obama administration, the spying on, the attempts to falsely smear him with all the garbage in the Dossier, remember when you guys were so hyped because you thought you had him in the golden showers thing, REALLY. The phony Mueller investigation, the phony attacks on him for COVID, the bogus first impeachment, then this nonsense. I often wonder what it would have been like without all of that. And I remind you it was Pelosi who lost in the House this election, she didn't lose control but she lost 18 seats and has one of the slimmest of majorities, and the Dems were supposed to hit a homerun in the Senate and just barely BARELY hold it.

If you had watched the mini series about Comey ("the Comey Rule"), who was played by Jeff Daniels, you could sense in his private reactions to Comey, that we, as a nation were about to enter a hellish phase, one could palpably glean that realization from his subtle, private reactions to Trump.

Recently, the real Comey was interviewed on Dan Abram's radio show ( Sirius XM ) and was asked about Daniel's portrayal, and Comey zeroed on those private moments the actor Daniel's, playing Comey, how Daniel's conveyed the emotions and thoughts in his reaction to realizing what we were in for, with the new president, the feeling, expressed very subtley, the horror. There were a few moments of silence that were utterly pregnant with power.

I don't think you comprehend the depth of horror that is Trump, as a human being, that he is not the kind of man you want representing America to the rest of the world, a man devoid of empathy, humility, devoid of qualities that make for better leaders. His instincts are all wrong, he chooses very poor talent, and those that are talented, he winds up firing, and keeping the sycophants. A man like that is not the kind of man we want as a nation.

And, BTW, he is a criminal.
