Hmmm upon further reading seems to depend on who is reporting it but will withdraw until maybe our SecTrans shows up and clears up which of these chemicals came under the regulations.

"The Trump administration on Monday repealed a mandate that would have required trains carrying crude oil to use special brakes with new technology."
    https://thehill.com/policy/energy-e...admin-rolls-back-obama-oil-train-safety-rule/

"Last month, the AP revealed that the administration understated the advantages of installing better brakes on trains carrying crude oil and ethanol. "
    https://www.cpr.org/2019/01/29/the-...fuel-industry-regulations-carry-a-steep-cost/

"The Trump administration is rolling back a requirement for trains carrying highly explosive liquids — like the oil trains that run through the Columbia River Gorge en route to Northwest refineries."
    https://www.nwpb.org/2017/12/09/oil-train-safety-rules-getting-rolled-back-by-trump-administration/

But moot point anyway if it was a bearing and not the brakes.

They couldn’t stop after the bearing failure…..c’mon man.

But lets go forward with your position……If thats the case, then what “incompetence” are you referring to with Pete than caused the accident ?

Yes see above there seems to be various reporting on exactly what, perhaps our no show SecTrans can get off his arse and find out which if any here. But then if it was a failed bearing a moot point anyway.

Bearings fail for a variety of reasons. Hyundai put a new engine in my Sonata after 135,000 because of a bearing failure due to faulty manufacture. They replaced LOTS of them. Something can strike a bearing housing cracking it and it gets dirt and grit inside. And yes maintenance failure. All nothing to do with Trump and brake regulations.

Why not? A bearing failure means an axel failure means a collapse.

Did I say his incompetence "cause" the accident" No. It's the aftermath along with his entire tenure and lack of concern about the job to which he was appointed. Boys just want to have fun I guess.

Then what “incompetence” on his part are you referring to ?

HUH ? A breaking failure does not mean an axle failure. The train derailed because it could not stop fast enough to stop the axle failure. New breaking systems were recommended for that very reason.

Please show what “lack of respect” tot he job ? Seriously, be very specific…

NTSB is already investigating. EPA is measuring toxic chemical levels in the air and environment. What more do you want done from Pete?

Of course, if it were for the anti-government crowd, none of these agencies would exist, and the people affected by these free market externalities would be on their own in figuring out if there is a danger associated with those chemicals.

Can I ask where you are getting your info about wheel bearings?

Given the EPA's record in Flint Michigan why would anyone expect anything but a cover-up.

Be involved on the scene with the people working the problem and speaking to the American people about it, is his job just to be concerned about it?

Of course. His job is to travel on private jets at the taxpayer's expense and take paid leaves and holidays in-between lectures about racist highways and too many white construction workers.

Now you are trying to blame the GOP based on a counterfactual? Way to wave the white flag.

It's his job to put on a suit and help clean up? As far as I know, the rail company is responsible. Is this a national issue? Seems like the governor is more suited for what you are describing.

If you don't trust the EPA, then why would you want any government bureaucracy involved?

I'm from the government and I'm here to help!!!

Again it's the facts his entire tenure has been feigning pre-occupation with trival matters for the country.

Again if he becomes President and he and his boyfriend decide to adopt another child is he going to take a 3 month maternity leave?

You find something homosexual about it? Who has the phobia here?

Can you show me what I said that even comes close to that question? You DO KNOW the NSTB has jurisdiction?

The EPA was just one of Nixon's many errors.

The EPA only serves to protect Big Bad Business from the kind of criminal and civil liability that could actually regulate their conduct.

"This smells of the dawn of the same old. To quote the Who: meet the new boss, same as the old boss.It should go without saying that someone who advised DuPont on how to avoid regulations is not someone we want advising this new administration."
THE GUARDIAN, Dear Joe Biden: are you kidding me?, The president-elect has tapped a former DuPont consultant to join his Environmental Protection Agency transition board, BY Erin Brockovich, Thu 19 Nov 2020.

Thats just more made up faux outrage. The man has been doing his job every day. BTW, how many times was Elain Chao front and center during her tenure ?

He may. You now that every parent who adopts (even M-F parents) is allowed maternity leave right ?
