That is all anybody gets... you will be worm-dirt pushing up daisies just as much as an agnostic, a Hindu, a Muslin, etc.

Belief in an invisible imaginary boogie-man by a different name than somebody in some other part of the planet calls their imaginary invisible boogie-man in the sky won't get you any brownie points after your ticker gives out. Hate to break it to ya, but you will be just as dead.

    Thoughts and prayers! 8)

I would say the value of my faith is worth more then that. The comfort and guidance alone is of value. Plus if I am wrong I will never know, if I am right then I won the metaphysical jackpot. Either way I gain comfort in times of distress, a guide in how to be a better person, community that I can share my goals and dreams with, history that I can pass on to my children, and a helping hand when I am in need. All of that and if I am correct, then I can stand before the Lord when I pass on. Not a bad deal all told.

More agnostics like myself is good more atheists....not so much. Atheists are no different than religious zealots. The only difference is that instead of 100% believing in your god you are 100% certain that there is nothing. Agnostics at least leave the door open for the possibility but don't hold on to any of the current rather silly (in my view) religions that we have to choose from. Newsflash, the creator of the universe isn't going to give a crap if you eat bacon or not or if you are married to the person you are practicing night time aerobics with. Also, many atheists I have come across were formerly very religious people who decided God didn't exist not because of some logical thought experiment, they just didn't think he existed because of how life turned out for them. Add to that some, not all but some, atheists are triggered at anything that might be even remotely considered religious.

Doubling down on religion "just in case" is a very weak show of faith. Your invisible boogie-man in the sky saw your post and is not fooled. You are in deep trouble. (if he/she/it actually exists)

I noticed the odd comment regarding deaths and religion. I thought it was applicable to add to those points.

The Encyclopedia of Wars shows that history does not support the hypothesis that religion is the major cause of conflict. The Encyclopedia list of 1763 wars, only 123 have been classified to involve a religious cause, accounting for less than 7% of all wars and less than 2% of all people killed in warfare.

unfortunately that's not accurate because of PC.
all of Muslim aggression is attributed to religious causes.
None of that was known just a short time ago.

It mentions about Muslims in the book. Of the 7% figure, 4% is down to Islam.

The main causes of war were for territorial conquest, to control borders, secure trade routes, or respond to an internal challenge to political authority.

It's not going to identify Islam.
It was only recently people started learning about the religion and the orders from Allah.
The main causes of territorial conquest in Islam, is to follow the writings of the religion, and convert, or subjugate all that is not Muslim.
Muslims intentions are to conquer for booty, spread the religion, gather slaves.
And the leader gets 20% of the booty collected. ( Muhammeds orders)

I can give examples, I have a book here about a bunch of Muslim wars.
We can pick one, I will give a brief synopsis, and you look up the cause in the encyclopedia.

I don't have a copy of the encyclopedia so I can't help, sorry. The book claims 66 of the 123 religious wars are down to Islam. Does your book contain more than 66 Islam wars? I'm just the messenger.

Actually I haven't read the encyclopedia, and if it covers world wide since recorded history, they could be right.
Islam is only 1200 to 1400 years old.
Now we also had about 550 Jihads into Europe, however these would not all be considered wars, just raids.

Actually Islam estimates are 270 million. ( Some higher, some lower, but not by much,)
The last 200 years are the quietest time in their history.
Jefferson helped push them out of the Med, their last stand, and back into the deserts.

But guess what...Islam's back, … With oil money, and the same sicko religion, and orders from God.

Not to say there was not atrocities on both sides.
One story I read was a crusader type where the Christians executed 10,000

Another "Vlad the impalier" ( count Dracula) stopped invading Muslim armies by impaling 20,000, muslims along the road to his castle.
He actually stopped a Muslim invasion, but gets no credit for it.

I would say mental illness is driving them and not religion.
