I'd say the victims could be forgiven for being oblivious to the distinction between that and run of the mill mass murder. How about you?
Oh sure, just a big accident that killed 60 million people.

Agnostics I'm fine with - atheism is a religion of nihilism I despise. And who cares if they're temporarily growing? There's much more important things to talk about.

Stalin and Mao killed 50 million Americans. Did that come from a Trump tweet?

The good that comes from being an athiest is they cannot discriminate or persecute based on religion.

Yes, they tend to persecute others, as seen in atheistic countries like the old USSR. They just go after those that do not buy into the system they have created. Not that much different from religion. Just different reasons to persecute.

They were convicted of forgetting to take a voter ID card to Kroger for grocery shopping... and summarily executed for the heinous crime.

No. But one cannot be a communist without being an atheist.

    2 Esdras 6:54-59

54 And after these, Adam also, whom thou madest lord of all thy creatures: of him come we all, and the people also whom thou hast chosen.
55 All this have I spoken before thee, O Lord, because thou madest the world for our sakes (Israel)
56 As for the other people, which also come of Adam, thou hast said that they are nothing, but be like unto spittle: and hast likened the abundance of them unto a drop that falleth from a vessel

    A truly idiotic post.

Face it ... secular governments kill exponentially more people than religions do.

Societies today that are the most religious have the highest violent crime rates, while those societies in which faith and church attendance are the lowest — the most secular societies — tend to have the lowest.

The most secular societies today include Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Czech Republic, Estonia, Japan, Britain, France, the Netherlands, Germany, South Korea, New Zealand, Australia, Vietnam, Hungary, Belgium.

The most religious societies include Nigeria, Uganda, the Philippines, Pakistan, Morocco, Egypt, Zimbabwe, Bangladesh, El Salvador, Colombia, Senegal, Malawi, Indonesia, Brazil, Peru, Jordan, Algeria, Ghana, Venezuela.

The highly secular countries tend to fare the best in terms of crime rates, prosperity, equality, freedom, democracy, women's rights, human rights, educational attainment and life expectancy.

Unless you're trying to say they kill because they lack religion, it's kind of meaningless. With the rise of secular governments, there was an unrelated rise in the number of people available to kill, and more effective means of killing them. If Charlemagne had modern powers, he would have converted or killed every person on earth.

I know plenty of religious folks that also believe in complete separation of church and state.

However unless every politician is non-religious, there will never be a complete and total divide.

I’m saying we have more to be scared about from secular governments (Russia, China, NK) than from the Lutherans and Presbyterians.

Other than the zealots in Iran, religious people around the world are fairly well behaved.

Religion is just one of many faith-based isms. The enemy of logic and morality is faith. Faith is necessary for religion, but nationalism, or a faith-based worship of ones country, is a more common modern culprit for atrocities. Both nationalism and religions are used to deny the enemy their humanity, and to deny the value of ones own life, both useful tools for the powerful to get those who actually don't have much to gain, to take great risks and commit horrible deeds.

It makes us less then what we were and I feel sorry for those that lack faith or worse lose their faith. What a lonely world they live in believing that all they are will die and be forgotten after a few generations.
