Let’s hope he’s luckier than this kid.
Alec Baldwin Is Innocent Until Proven Guilty. “Let’s not rush to judgment, like Alec Baldwin would be doing right now if this were happening to someone he sees as an enemy.”
Alec Baldwin’s Gun Loaded with One Live Round in Place of a Blank. “Despite reports that Baldwin was using a ‘prop gun,’ that’s dangerously inexact. He was using a real gun being used as a prop, as is often the case in moviemaking. Somehow a genuine round was loaded into the genuine firearm.”
I've been involved in the use of blanks and it requires very strict protocols to prevent this very thing from happening. Clearly, Alec didn't follow these.
"If a scene was being shot or rehearsed and Baldwin was doing what he was supposed to be doing, then it would seem this was a tragic mistake. A two-part mistake."
"The first mistake was whatever prop master accidentally loaded a live round."
Baldwin had a duty to check their gun to make sure it was loaded correctly.
It wasn't a prop gun, it was a real gun.
It didn't misfire, it fired.
Someone loaded the gun with live ammo to do some casual shooting off the set , and it didn’t get unloaded.
I also think Baldwin might have been screwing around with the gun, doing something as a joke, as if it was a harmless toy.
We’ll see when all the facts are out.
That is moronic way to die. That's also a hyper-anomaly. Handing kids an Uzi that is already notorious for poor control due to size and design is a bad idea. If it was fully auto, that's an even worse idea. I would have had to be right behind him with my hands able to reach his shoulders and upper arms for guidance should things go wrong. That's how we did it even when he was shooting a single action .22 pistol. The gun is to be pointed down range at all times.
My son has yet to get to fire a fully auto weapon... and that could be a long time as we currently live in California. He's 19 now.
There has been precedence for this. I think Brandon Lee was killed filming The Crow by a prop gun and so was another actor on a western TV series ages ago. Was anyone charged or sent to jail in those cases?
Hollywood anti-gunner Alec Baldwin playing around with a "prop" firearm on the set of rust fired the gun and injured the Director and killed Director of Photography.
A perfect example of do as I say not as I do, if you have one you will kill someone.
But for him to handle one is just ok, truth is when you hear anti-gunners make statements like the one above, they are projecting what they will do, unlike the properly trained millions of law abiding gun owners in the U.S. who annually never shoot or harm anyone except in lawful self defense.
Truth it is the thugs and fools who cause all of the gun problems in the U.S. and no gun law can stop that, the thugs just ignore the law and fools like Baldwin will always have access to them, because they have the money to bypass laws and get what they want when they want it and unlike the law abiding have the money to buy lots of armed security to then him safe in a bubble world of non-reality.
Why do you have one in your ear?
Lee was killed by a squib load. That is different
Thanks, I didn't realize that. Was that because the weapon was used incorrectly?
@HB Surfer how accurate those scopes and how easy are they to dial in?
A gun used in the making of a western movie huh? My guess is a single action revolver where the hammer must be manually cocked before each shot. If that is indeed the case, this is worse than it might appear as it eliminates any mitigating factors that otherwise could be invoked. He manually cocked that hammer, pointed it at someone and pulled the trigger.
Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
kind of. They didn't check to make sure that the barrel was clear prior to using it with blanks.
It’s a gun on a set. They point them at people every day on tv. He’s got a reasonable expectation that it’s safe, since that’s literally it’s purpose.
If it was done in a joking manner I would say he will be introuble potentially, but then you need people to testify against him and say that. Of course he won’t admit that. He will act like he’s sad and that it was someone else’s fault like most others would. If was part of the movie shoot, then I doubt he would be held responsible at all. And this is going to turn political so assume he will get a ton of liberal support. Interesting. The first post nailed it though.
In first comments since fatal shooting, Alec Baldwin says his 'heart is broken' after accidentally killing cinematographer
"Actor Alec Baldwin on Friday said his “heart is broken” following the fatal on-set shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins. He pledged to cooperate with law enforcement."
On most AR-15's you don't want a powerful scope. I recommend a Red Dot scope for an AR-15 unless it is like the bottom AR. the Red Dots are fast and simple. I always used a laser bore sighter and then dial my scope into it. Usually it only take about 1/2 a PMAG after that to make light adjustments and you're good. The long range AR-15 Blacksword, I have a multi-Optic on it. It looks like a monster. It has a hologram, laser, and of course a long range optic to hit at 500+ yards out. I also tossed on some 45 degree irons in case someone was up close and I had no time to deal with all the buttons for the optics. All the scopes are pretty damn accurate. The Blackswords are used in competition and most often win those competitions.
This is fair for people that are not gun literate. No man that I shoot with would ever pull that trigger until they had inspected it themselves. I don't know the protocol on a movie set, so I will take my ignorance and not form an opinion on the topic. I can't blame Alec at all, but I also would have never pulled that trigger and had that result.
I feel bad for the guy. Yeah, he is a jerk, but I wouldn't wish the feeling of accidentally killing friends or coworkers on anybody. I hope he is able to find peace with himself.
All fair points I think. They do probably need gun safety training if they’re gonna handle guns on set. If we can make pornos use condoms these seems pretty reasonable
Hmmm...I don't see how this would be political at all.
Notice the media keep calling it a prop gun. It is not a prop gun. It is a gun. Baldwin did not follow basic safety rules.
No. I use dangerous equipment every day and every day I follow the safety guidelines of said equipment. I never, ever, assume or have a reasonable expectation that it's safe. A dangerous piece of equipment is always dangerous.
Ouch! Now he knows. I hope to never know how it feels to rightfully kill someone. To wrongfully do it.... terrible.
I heard he was crying and vomiting. Which seems about right. I would be devastated.
That shooting in his tweet was about 2 miles from my house.
lol... it is at ear height. It's frozen in time. It's flying away from the gun. It's not in my ear.
yea, I was just giving you crap
