Yes, unfortunately, the law has been passed, and we all have to toe the line. Nothing changes really.
If a government decides to impose a tax, they do so, and no-one can do anything about it.
Except go to Germany or the UK or where ever and pay their GST or VAT, or whatever us peons
    have been slugged with.
Oh yes, I forgot, nowadays, there is a "litter" tax in NSW where the peons have to pay an extra 20c on soft drinks...probably a widening of the GST really, and Qld call it a "sugar" tax...ah well...
Just pay up and shut and watch the politicians rip us off again and again....

Surely the purchase is made when and in the country that the purchaser presses Pay Now and initiates the transfer of funds. It is the most traceable definitive and predictable point. Where the company is, the web page is hosted, where the goods are, are highly variable and could be different for different items on the same page or order.

Yes, but it is still early in the evolution of international retail. Or moreso the collection of fair and effective tax, if there is such a thing.

Unfortunately we are in the so called global economy, but borders and countries work at odds to this economy because to have effective revenue return we still must be nationalist in our approach to such. The only way theoretically a globalised economy can work in its true essence is if borders and countries cease to exist and a one world government is installed. That would mean that the smaller populated regions of the world would also be the poorest due to revenue distribution. Hunger Games anyone?

The problem with current system using Billy’s German example, is that you may have to pay tax two or three times, dependent on where the goods may reside. Add this to freight and you may find that the costs associated with the purchase of said product may in fact be more than the product itself.

The concept of globalisation is a flawed capitalistic pipedream. It can only work at its most effective under socialism. Greedy trillionaires took a socialist concept and adapted to suit their means. They then sold it to the self absorbed populations of the western world knowing full well their greed for tangible assets would fall easily into the falsehood that is globalisation. Meanwhile they quadruple their wealth, rendering the only population that could threaten their power grab, into a mess of debt and subservience.

Basically they found a way of creating a caste system by using debt. This is Usually a concept Communism does very effectively except this retardation of capitalism has effectively brainwashed the population by utilising their own greed as a tool and only now are people waking up to this realisation.

A good speech should be like a woman's skirt. Long enough to cover the subject and short enough to create interest.

    Save Meghan from being "Diana-ed"
And Harry Is a Party Sort of Guy. eh

Revealed: Australia's fastest growing state (Victoria)

Australia could add another five million people in the next 11 years, new statistics show.

The country’s population is projected to reach 30 million between 2029 and 2033, the Australian Bureau of Statistics revealed on Thursday.

Victoria can expect the fastest increase in population out of any state or territory with a jump from 6.3 million to almost eight million by 2027.

    Victoria, Build A Wall.
As I understand it, Victoria is the "nicest"
    most habitable State of AussieLand.
    Preserve the State of Victoria.
Let the newbie population increase elsewhere.

I don't think they'd be interested. They have more fun stuff to do.

Actually, Victoria is a disaster. Not the state in its entirety, yet - but it's rapidly being destroyed by Melbournism.

Ten years ago Melbourne was still okay - tolerant, good eats, good music, and easy going. Not much to worry about other than the poorly trained constabulary (who liked to shoot first and ask questions .. much later). Now, Melbourne is like some isolated bible belt town .. but with a different religion. Very monocultural and oppressive. Looks as though it's going to worsen, too.

But I agree with the wall. Would be good to keep 'religious fundamentalism' out of our secular nation if at all possible. Contain it down there, where they actually like it.

So Sydney went from having dust storms earlier this week to having flash floods? Was this the same week?

You may not like Abbott, BUT he is and has always been an active member of his local bushfire brigade. People complain that politicians talk but don’t act. Abbott has always taken his duties in his brigade very seriously while not running about glorifying his activities.
No, honestly, this is like the calls for Gillard’s and Rudd’s demise after they left office. Not a good look.

Exactly. NSWelshies stuck between two different versions of Fundy-ism. A wall at each end would be good. Though the northern one could probably be chook mesh, since theirs is a more tolerant kind of insanity than the southern variety. A bit of seepage wouldn't be a problem.
